As the pace of change quickens and the future feels especially tempting to predict, hosts Jennifer Taylor and Tava Baird explore the expectations we carry into rituals, relationships, divination, and everyday life. Through a channeled musical transmission with Archangel Michael and Samael, reflections on perception and possibility, and “bouquets of Lilithians,” they consider what may open when we loosen our grip on the stories we expect to be true. This is Part One of a two-part conversation.

Tava Baird: [00:00:00] Good morning, Jennifer Taylor.
Jennifer Taylor: Good morning, Tava Baird, and welcome everyone to another episode of Mystical Musings
Tava Baird: Podcast. I am psyched for some music today, man. I- we are headed into fall at breakneck speed, and it seems like everyone and everything around is going through huge amounts of change. And so I woke up this morning and went, "Oh, I get to hear Jenn sing today.
Maybe I can talk her into something soothing."
Jennifer Taylor: Oh, absolutely. Yeah, I, I completely agree. It seems like there's just something in the air of, lots of change and shifting and, lots of energy and excitement and movement. things seem like they're accelerating, so yeah. Yes. We- It would be nice to s- step into a place that's a [00:01:00] little bit more still and grounded, and give us a little time for some discernment.
Tava Baird: Yes. It feels like we are skipping along the edges of two seasons, and that we're starting to light fires of manifestation, and all of these things are coming through. Things that used to be hard are now easy. Things that used to be slow are now fast. I feel like I'm on a metaphysical water slide, and I'm slowly getting a wedgie.
So hopefully, hopefully... Um, I don't know where that came from. I apologize. Maybe it's best if you just sing. That was
Jennifer Taylor: fantastic. No, I, that is, that was just... Oh, it's just one of the many, many reasons why I love you. Um, now I'm just gonna have the idea of a metaphysical wedgie stuck in my head.
Tava Baird: Well, you know, it just, it feels like, wooh, things are changing, and that's wonderful.
But at the same time, there's a [00:02:00] slight uncomfortableness in my nether parts. Anyway. I, I'm just gonna do everybody a favor and put myself on mute right now. Here we go.
Jennifer Taylor: I'm gonna try to stop laughing long enough to sing. Okay. Oh, okay. So, oh. So I will invite in Archangel Michael and Samael as well, and I know they already have a plan and are just waiting for me to start bringing it through, and you to bring through Samael.
So let's see what they have. [00:03:00] [00:04:00] [00:05:00] [00:06:00] [00:07:00] Om
Tava Baird: I am not sure if your echo was completely on for that, but it was so beautiful without it that I did not want to stop you.
Jennifer Taylor: Yeah, I, decided not to put the echo on.
Tava Baird: Okay.
Jennifer Taylor: Yeah. '
Tava Baird: Cause you started and I was like, "This is incredible, but wait, I don't hear the reverb." But then it just kept being incredible, and I was like, "I hope [00:08:00] she's okay because I'm gonna not stop her because this is really beautiful."
Jennifer Taylor: Thank you. Yeah, no, I... More and more I find I'm being told not to put it on, so I'm like, "All right. Well, we'll see."
Tava Baird: It was really gorgeous. Very, very gorgeous. And, just what was needed. So here is what came through from Samael with your song
"I wish to speak to you today, friends, about what you carry at your entrances, what you bear through your mornings and your greetings, and the cracking of the spines of your books. Expectation. It is a natural thing for the human mind to attempt prediction. Countless divination forms appear to be based on it.
You want a warning, a reassurance, and a feeling [00:09:00] of control. And yet, when you go to the card reader or learn to cast bones, you discover something. Your desire to predict is not what is delivered. Instead, you end up in conversation with the divine.
And because you too are divine, this means that you end in conversation with yourself about the need to control the feeling of powerlessness.
But do you not see, child, that sometimes the absence of power is the point, that letting go is necessary to balance the energy of scheduling and exertion? Power, it acts as a drug on its own. Pick up your pendulum and leaves, your dice and runes, and enter into connection with your [00:10:00] past and future selves.
Let the lines blur. Release the rules you set for yourself, and remember what it is to walk in divinity"
Jennifer Taylor: Wow
Tava Baird: It's a lot there
Jennifer Taylor: Yeah
Tava Baird: Boy,
Jennifer Taylor: expectation. That's a
Tava Baird: hard- Expectation ... that is such a
Jennifer Taylor: hard thing to let go of.
Tava Baird: And, um-
when he's speaking of this, it reminds me of something that happened this last weekend. I had, I would call them a big, beautiful bunch of Lilithians. They were like flowers bursting out. They were fantastic. They were a bouquet of Lilithians. Is that what it's called? I think that's what I need to call it now.
When you have a group of them [00:11:00] together, it's a bouquet of Lilithians.
Jennifer Taylor: I like it.
Tava Baird: they're like a gaggle of geese or a murder of crows. It's a bouquet of Lilithians. I did a Dae philosophy class, and then we set up the four mirrors ritual. Um, and I'm sure I've probably talked about the ritual before on here, but, if you are new to it, it is a ritual that each person walks individually.
It is a ritual for one. And while you are in the ritual, I channel Samael to pass on an individual message to you. And sometimes he takes 10 minutes, and sometimes he takes 25. It just depends what the angel feels needs to be said. Um, but it was interesting to me. We did the whole Lilith class and, in the class we were talking about the idea that you are divine just the way you are and you don't need purity to be considered, you know, a wonderful, [00:12:00] energetic being, and we talk a lot about setting down stories and things.
But then we went to go do the ritual, and people sign up for time slots, and there was someone who went near the end. And when she came out of the ritual, she was crying. And it's always interesting for me to see people cry because I don't remember a lot of the channeling when I'm deep channeling like that, so, I often don't know what was said that might have made the person cry.
and I said to them, like, "Are you all right?" And they said, "I know that in class we talked about you are fine the way you are, but one of the reasons I signed up for one of the final slots is I was worried. I thought I would walk in there and that Samael would tell me I wasn't measuring up, that he would tell me I hadn't done enough lately, [00:13:00] that I had been too lazy."
Uh, and I was like, "You thought he was gonna reprimand you?" And they said, "Yes." And instead, what happened is essentially... And we have a recording of it, so I got to hear it. the person walked those mirrors, and what Samael did was essentially like a 15-minute love letter to them Just telling them how much they were needed and admired, and how he noted the way they stood up for their community, and how big their heart was, and how ever since childhood they had always been walking in the right direction.
And that he knew it had been hard, but that he was there, and he wanted to spend time celebrating that person in the time that they had together. And so when this person had gone in expecting to hear, [00:14:00] "You don't measure up," and came out hearing, "You are holy, holy, holy, and your ancestors sing j- you know, sing with joy as, as they watch your path," it, it just...
It went against the expectation of what they carried into that ritual, where they had been bracing themselves, and they wanted to do it, but they were putting it off because of the way they imagined the divine would perceive them, which was filtered through the lens of how they perceived themselves.
So That's what this reminds me of when he's talking about expectation, is how many places do we walk in thinking we know what's coming? And despite the fact that it's almost never the same as what we worried about. [00:15:00] I mean, I don't ... Most of the things I've worried about in my life have never come out the way I thought they would, no matter how much I thought about them.
But him just talking about we have this need to control, to predict what's going to happen so we can brace ourselves for it, but that means that we are spending a lot of time predicting things that are never going to come to pass that way. and in doing that, we carry these huge burdens. I just ... That, that was what I thought of.
Jennifer Taylor: Yeah. And I- I ... That really reminds me, and as soon as you were saying expectation when you were reading Samael's words, I was thinking about a podcast that I was listening to this past week, and it's really helped me to see in another way, like scientifically, how it is that we are actually constructing our [00:16:00] own realities.
And there was a man talking about ... And he does a lot of different studies on, this kind of thing. And so essentially, he was talking about how everything that we see, and he especially focuses on sight, like everything that we see and then, subsequently experience is really a construct of our consciousness, our mind.
And that, you know, while we've heard that, before, it's like, you know, we're interpreting things through our own lenses and things like that. He was breaking it down into, when you think about it, we are actually quite literally constructing it because what our eyes are taking in is not what's actually there around us.
Our eyes can only pick up, I think it's like three different spectrums of light and color, you know, is out there, and we th- we think of it as the color being [00:17:00] there, and we're seeing it. But what's actually happening is there are different lengths of bands of light that are in a certain spectrum that we can see, and they're really just bands that are different lengths.
And our eyes take those in, those messages in, and our brain translates those into color. so when we're looking at a blue water bottle, it's not necessarily a blue water bottle. That's just the color that our minds have created in order to interpret the information that's there.
And, if we were a mantis shrimp, it would see, I think it's, like, 20-some different bands. And so they- Oh, wow ... they, they have, like, the most spectacular, broadest band of, um, of sight of all living creatures that we're aware of and can measure. and we only see three.
And so when you think about it... And he was-- You know, it's like [00:18:00] everything's that way. Our ears are taking in vibrations and translating those into certain sounds. Um, you know, our body is taking in vibration and touch and, these different sensors on our fingertips are taking in information and translating it into, "This is a smooth surface.
This is hard. This is solid. This is not." And he was saying that we tend to think of it when we look around as I'm seeing what's actually there. And one, that's actually not in any way true, because if we were seeing what's there, it's like, what would we even see? Would we see protons and neutrons?
Would we see beyond that? Would we be looking at quarks and, you know, all of these different things? What is it that's really even, quote-unquote, actually there? But the part that relates to the expectation is that it's not just that our eyes or our ears are sending messages to our [00:19:00] brain that our brain then interprets and, you know, clearly from what it took in, but that our brains are actually predictors, that they are sending as many, if not, I think it was more actual signals to our eyes as our eyes are sending to our brain when we are putting together the whole picture of what we're seeing.
Whoa. And that our brain is actually sending it, sending those messages before, like some, millisecond before the eye is taking it in. Because he was saying that our job, the job of our brain is not to show us what's actually in front of us to, but to predict what we're going to see so that we're already, like Samael was talking about, so that we're already anticipating what we're going to see and we can react.
And that, our brain's whole focus isn't on giving us an [00:20:00] accurate sense of reality. It's entirely focused on survival and what's going to help us to interact on this realm, in this world that we're in here, in an embodied place, and what's going
to give us the most benefit evolutionarily. Yes. And that part of why it is that we all have then a common shared experience is that these kind of memories, have been implanted in our brains throughout eons as we've evolved. So we all agree this is the ground.
It's solid. This is a tree. This is solid. you know, this is what a face is. Those kinds of things have slowly all been imprinted into our brains so that when we come out, we're not all starting from scratch and creating our own individual interpretation of everything. There's a shared kind of agreement there of the worlds that we're perceiving.
But when you think about it, [00:21:00] the idea that our brains are predicting ahead even of what we see There's so much information in that as to how much our thoughts, our expectations, our beliefs about what we're about to experience shape what we actually see. So much so that there are all kinds of, you know, visual tricks and things of images that they can show us, and our brain is gonna say, "Nope, those, you know, lines are the same length," or, "Those circles are the same size," or, all the tiles on that checker- checkerboard there are only two colors there, like the white and the gray."
And in fact, they're not, but it's our brain's way of anticipating how everything is coming together. And so I started thinking about how, that then really affects us, and He was talking about humility, and that we all need to have a level of humility of [00:22:00] recognizing that none of us are seeing what is, quote-unquote, "really there" or reality, and we're all filtering it.
Yeah. Um, and then I was thinking about expectations. Like, so when I was, um, when I was at, I guess in middle school, there was a woman that, went to, one of my dad's churches, and she was a severe bulimic. she had, been suffering with bulimia for years and years and years and was always right on the edge of survival.
And she was, just rail thin, as you would imagine. But she would describe that when she looked in the mirror, she saw, like, a 350-pound woman, like, standing in there in the mirror. So we're standing there, next to each other looking in the mirror, and she saw, a woman who was probably over 300 pounds more than what I saw [00:23:00] and what, I think everyone else saw.
We all saw her as, "Oh my goodness, we have to get some nourishment in you. You're wasting away." But she literally saw this person who was so much larger than her actual physical body, and I never could quite understand how her eyes could really pull that in. And, you know, I realized that it was something her brain was doing.
Right. But when I think about it, that to me is a, a really kind of extreme example of how our expectations and our thoughts about ourselves can show up in our physical reality as just as real as anything else, but it's those expectations that are controlling us to the extent that we can actually see a 300-pound difference between- Yeah
our reality and, everyone else's. so when I was thinking about expectation, that's what was kind of- Yeah ... uh, popping up in my brain.
Tava Baird: I mean, and you think about it, like if [00:24:00] you're sitting in a room and someone you love in the other room screams, on the way into that room to see what is happening, all the worst case scenarios go through your head.
Is the stove on fire? Did they fall down? Is there a wild animal in the house? Like everything goes in as your brain tries to predict what it's about to encounter, and it tends to pull up the worst case scenarios. And so you think about the fact that your-- what you just said with the brain is sending messages about what to expect before you actually arrive.
Those messages are all also filtered through culture, emotional, emotions, e- other experiences, which means, you know, you're getting a completely different viewpoint. I was talking in the Lilith class last Sunday. I said, "We're all sitting in the same room, and you guys are all hearing the same speaker. But because of who you [00:25:00] are and where you happen to be sitting in the room, and the history that you brought here with you, and your expectations and all those things, none of you is taking the same class today."
But that's one of the things when Samael talks about divine pattern, that we are here to walk around and have unique experiences, and that reveals sort of the movement of divine pattern and divine energies under the surface. You know, we are predictors and filters And we're unique ones, which is just mind-blowing.
our brain has this desire to want to predict and control everything. And one of the things that he said that I, I found really interesting too is a lot of people get into, metaphysics through divination practices.
Like, they [00:26:00] get their first tarot deck, they pick up a pendulum at a Halloween market. They, look up online and see what the runes symbolize. And a lot of times when people go to readers, they wanna know, you know, "Am I gonna get the job? Should the relationship be over?" You know, they're wanting the reader to give them a, "This is what's going to happen."
But anybody who's done divination or listened to readings more than a couple of times, but usually more than once, quickly figures out that what you're there for is not the prediction of the future. What you're there for is the reading of the energies that are around you right now, saying, "Here is what is happening in your environment- That you may be overlooking in your desire to want to control things, and in the fact that you're in your own predicting head.[00:27:00]
Here are other options that are just as likely. You get to decide which way you move from here, right? and then what we have is divination, not just to try to predict the future and give ourselves a sense of control, but when you see yourself not as something that the world is happening to, but that you are a mover of that energy with your choices and your perspectives and the way that you process things.
This is where a lot of people start to have their first experiences with energy work or magic, is this idea that I'm not gonna sit down and have a reader tell me what's going to happen, and it's fate and there's nothing I can do about it, right? I don't find those readers compelling at all if they do it that way.
What I find compelling is when the reader says, "There [00:28:00] is much more here than you can see. Let me tell you what it is. Let me give you it from a different perspective, the perspective of your guides or your ancestors," you know, and any of those things. "Now, what are you going to do?" And that's where, you know, we, in the Lilith classes, we ask people to define magic, and sort of the agreed upon definition in pretty much every class is it's moving energy with intention.
When you see yourself as an energetic being and not sort of just a stagnant victim Then you start to think, "Now, how do I move the energies around me?" And a lot of that is looking at your own expectations before you walk into the ritual, before you walk into the business meeting, before you walk in to have the hard conversation about your relationship, and saying, "What if just for a little while I remember that I can't predict everything?"[00:29:00]
Jennifer Taylor: Yeah, and I think it was really interesting to learn that even from, the angels' perspectives, which is, you know, they see much further than we do. They have the memory of all that has happened, whereas we have a kind of more limited memory of what's happened in this embodiment.
And the idea that, even the angels cannot predict what is going to happen. they can give us probability, what's likely- Right ... or, if you continue down this particular path, and you continue making these sorts of decisions, this is a more likely outcome.
But, you know, if you've ever watched, and I, I don't know if they do this in other sports probably, but we watch a lot of soccer. and throughout the game, they'll show you the win probability of each team at various points during the game.
And it's really funny because you'll start the game, and there's a really high... There's [00:30:00] this little bar graph of this really high, you know, bar that one team is gonna win, and the other one's g- really low that they're gonna lose, or that they're gonna win. And it goes back and forth throughout it, and then all of a sudden somebody scores that was maybe not expected, and the next thing you know, the graphs change, and all of a sudden there's a much higher probability that the other team is gonna win.
And they'll... You talk about it as though that's, likely gonna happen, and then something unexpected happens, somebody scores, and all of a sudden, next thing you know, there's a 90% chance that the other team is gonna win. Right. And I think about that a lot towards- You know, it may look like we're headed down this road and there's no change.
There's, you know, we're... Or like you said, that we're victims of our circumstances and the people around us, and how we've been raised or our existing beliefs and all these things. And I mean, certainly I'm not in any way downplaying that all of that has a [00:31:00] lot to do with your experience and how hard it is maybe to make a different choice or to do something differently.
But the idea that a single choice can shift things dramatically. You know, one little choice that a player makes in moving to the right instead of the, to the left, and the other person moves slightly to the left instead of the right, and you- next thing you know, there's a goal opportunity and things shift dramatically.
Um, I, I remember it was so striking to me, and I think frustrating in some way to realize that, you know, even Samael can't predict the future, even with death. You know, my mother-in-law was on death's door, in the hospital. And, the surgeons, everybody was like, "Uh, this really could go either way, but it's looking a lot more like she's not gonna make it than, that she is."
And Samael was there, and he was [00:32:00] also speaking very graciously through Tava. Thank you. And even he could basically give us probabilities, and this is what's going on. This is what she's struggling with. But ultimately, she still hasn't made her decision. And the idea that the angel of death in this moment could not predict whether she was going to decide to stay in her body or decide to move on was really earth-shattering to me.
It was just this huge, massive, are you kidding? Like, so even he can't... You know, how many, how many deaths has he watched? How many of these struggles and these decisions of am I gonna stay, am I gonna go, has he witnessed? Millions. And each individual it still resides in their individual decisions.
And because of all of those things that you were talking about, [00:33:00] how each one of us is discovering our own set of divine patterns and has our very unique, experience and outlook, he still couldn't predict- Yeah ... what was gonna happen. I mean, I think While in a way it's frustrating because you want to be able to then ask the angels what's gonna happen, you know, because we want- Mm-hmm
the sense of control. It's like, I'm just gonna ask them, and they can tell me, and then I'll be, you know, either, either upset or, or happy about whatever it is. Right. But it's also really freeing to think there's always choice. There's always- And she lived ... choice. Yeah, and she lived. And it, I mean- ... nobody expected that.
You know, that was not the probability, that Samael had given. That was not what any of the surgeons or anyone else... And, you know, she definitely did a lot of waiting, thinking about it. And it's even from the visitations that we had, it's, it was like, okay, you know. But ultimately- Yeah
she decided to [00:34:00] stay. And it, it's just amazing to me to think about how much power there is in choice.
Tava Baird: Yeah. And I, I mean, I remember that whole thing very well. I remember you calling and saying, "Can you ask Samael if Keith needs to get on a plane?" And Samael's response was not- Yeah, and we were actually doing a podcast at the time We were doing a podcast at the time, so you could probably go back and find this one.
Um, although we probably edited that part out. But but the thing was, I remember his response was, "Yes, because his brother needs him." Not go because she's going to pass away, she's going to die. His brother needed him. And then whenever we kept asking, "Well, w- what..." And he just kept saying, "She's in and out of her body.
We sing for her. She has not decided yet." And I think that brings us back to this idea we have, you know, Samael sees farther than [00:35:00] we do. He does. He's... Now I'm gonna call him shrimp eyes, right? He's got a lot more going on in terms of what he sees. Um, but the thing is, is
we're divine beings in a different body and in a different setup with different perceptions. So I'm sure he could probably be like, "Well, the blue stripey light is flowing up this way, and the red..." And we would go, "What stripey lights?" You know, because he sees differently, and his experiences are different But there's still this idea that, no less than an angel, no less than a god.
And it also has to do with where we turn our attention, right? If, if we are predicting... If I'm looking at a peaceful playground and kids are just hanging around on swings and everything's going well, if my attention is in that direction, I might not see the car that's about to crash into [00:36:00] me through the gate standing behind me because my attention is on this peaceful vista in front of me, right?
And while entities like Samael can be in multiple places at once and having multiple interactions at once, the benefits of not having a body, right? Or at least a, not a body like we understand. His attention is in certain places at certain times, right? And I will... There have been times where I've gone into places and said to him, "Can you turn your attention in this direction?"
Right? and it's not that he couldn't see it before, but he also, his focus and his energy is going to be doing certain things, just like ours does, just in a different way. So when we go into... Like when you're singing and you're having an experience that happens [00:37:00] to be on a mountain in South America 2,000 years ago, your attention and energy is here and it's there.
But it might not necessarily be on, you know, Sylvia who lived in France in 1948 doing her laundry, right? Y- you know? And so there, there is also this where is the focus going? What are you looking at at the time? And that's going to make a difference on what your brain predicts and how you act and what you are able to prepare yourself for.
And I, I liked this, that he talked about if we try to hold all of it really tight and keep control of everything We don't have the balance of occasionally saying, "I'm a divine being. Things are going to happen. Uh, [00:38:00] we'll work through it when it happens. I am more powerful than I think, and I am at the mercy of a body that perceives things before I see them."
And I just have to kinda keep that in mind, let some of it happen. Total side note, now whenever we say expectations, I keep thinking of the egg restaurant.
Jennifer Taylor: Oh,
Tava Baird: Eggs-pectations? Do you remember that restaurant? Eggs-pectations. For those of you who've never had an Eggs-pectations near you, I don't know that... I haven't seen one in a long time, so I'm thinking maybe the company isn't in business or maybe just not in our area.
But it was, like, this upscale breakfast restaurant that had really good cake. Like, cake, cake as big as your head. Like, big cake. But it was called the Eggs-pectations. And Jenn, I so dare you to call this episode The Power of Eggs-pectations, not the egg restaurant.[00:39:00]
Jennifer Taylor: Yeah, well, you never know. We, uh, you never know what'll come out. Yeah,
Tava Baird: that's not gonna happen. I can tell already.
Jennifer Taylor: Uh,
Tava Baird: yeah Like, uh, and I won't even ask you to call it something about a wedgie. Um, but that would be- A
Jennifer Taylor: metaphysical wedgie ...
Tava Baird: physical wedgie. Oh.
Tava Baird (2): to go back from the eggs to the wedgie, um, this does feel very much like a season of change, where things are shifting and moving, and, it can be uncomfortable evolution. And, uh, you know, one of the things as you are stepping forward into places where suddenly things that didn't seem possible before are now on the table How much do you let things happen?
And how much of your perceptions about yourself are you [00:40:00] willing to let slide to allow more possibility to enter
And first you have to find the expectations that you have about yourself. "I'm good at this. I'm not good at this. I think there's an upper limit to what I can do. You know? Oh, my body couldn't keep up doing that." You know? Th- th- we do have big perceptions, and some of them are accurate. You know, like I'm working with a bum knee.
I'm probably not gonna go run a Keith level run today, right? I will end up in the hospital. Keith, by the way, is an ultra marathon runner for those of you who are listening and don't know, right? But there are, probably other perceptions that I have about what I am worth what I am worth, like what I think is equitable, what I think other people are willing [00:41:00] to do in my environment.
And one of the big judgments we often make is, how does that person feel about me? When we have no idea how that person feels about us, but we, we've tried to cobble it together. They like me, they don't like me, I don't exist to them, they adore me, whatever it is. But a lot of times we really sell ourselves short.
And I think that's one of the things in doing some more, mock funerals and things with Jennifer Jurlando is this idea that we often sell ourselves so short, and that there are many people out there who we don't think would really miss us if we weren't in their lives, who we absolutely would.
That we make an impact on them. And, our reach is a lot greater than we know. And what would it be like if we were able to walk even just for a [00:42:00] day, like just try tomorrow or the rest of today, what if you walked into rooms like everybody adored you?
Would you be easier with them? Would you have more fun? Would you feel more love towards them? Would you be more generous? W- what would change? And, you know, they always say, like, in business, dress for the job you want. What if we dressed for the energetic being we wanted to be? What if we dressed for the job of being an angel or a deity and then...
Or a prophet, and we walked around on Earth like that? How would the world respond?
Jennifer Taylor: Yeah. It's, it's so interesting that you just used the word how would w- the world respond, because what I was [00:43:00] gonna say was that it's not just our expectations of ourselves and what we're like, but how our expectations of how the world is going to respond to us, how the people around us and the situations and you know, the sea of energies that we're in, how they are going to respond to us.
And a lot of times our expectations about ourselves, they're really shaping all of that. And l- just like you were saying, you know, how would it be different if you walked into a room and expected that everyone there loved you versus expecting that everyone there was going to judge you? And the fact that our perceptions and our preconceptions and our beliefs actually shape the world around us, too, by shifting those things inwardly and shifting the belief and the understanding that that really does make a [00:44:00] difference.
It's amazing the way that everything around us can shift that just doesn't seem possible. Like, that's totally when you start... And I think you said this way early on, that's when the magic and miracles and things like that start coming to be. The other thing that occurred to me is that when we stop thinking of ourselves as isolated individuals, you know, it's good to have the sense of ourselves as an individual, as, you know, I'm unique, and I'm the only being that's exactly like me, but not from a sense of isolation, but a sense of uniqueness.
And the idea that we are not doing this alone, and that we have that community around us and, you were talking about getting readings and things like that. I think one of the most beneficial things that you can receive is the understanding and acknowledgement or validation of, or realization of the fact that [00:45:00] you are surrounded by helping spirits in lots of different forms who want to support you and are there supporting you.
And I, I still come back to Samael saying, "Anything is possible, singer. Anything." And I say that to myself and repeat that to myself so many times. And when I think about the combination of The more you open yourself to, the more possibilities, present themselves, and the more becomes possible.
So, the more you start working with the energies that are around you, with your guides, with your higher self, with your divine self, and recognizing that, the more things become possible. And it's really amazing the number of things that, couldn't happen until they did. You know- Yeah
they were talking about the four-minute mile, and [00:46:00] that the idea of the four-minute mile, like, that was apparently the, this cutting off point, and it was like humans just... That's like the wall. it was like you just can't get beyond that, until somebody did.
And now people are running, you know, running it way faster. But it's how, how many things did people say were impossible until someone did them? And then it was like, well, now we have to adjust that. so maybe having a little bit of expectation, but in the sense of expecting that anything is possible or expecting that, things will improve, but widening our definition of what improvement is.
And I think a lot of times that's, what we come up against as an energetic, practitioner or probably a practitioner in just about any field. as a Reiki practitioner or an energy worker, having to let go of what is improvement? [00:47:00] what would be something that would show that this was a valuable session?
And, so many times we want to see, oh gosh, their knee that was hurting feels a lot better now, or this illness went away, or, you know, we kind of, we put so many parameters that narrow the field of what success is or of what, the best outcome is.
But the more we can expand that to I know that I'm doing something and putting something out there that is good, and so I know that goodness is going to come from that, and I just look forward to seeing in what ways that manifests, is a very different kind of expectation, and one that I think probably feeds us and supports us a lot more.
Tava Baird: Absolutely. Um, as you were talking, I was thinking about the concept we have of science. And, I think I might have a little different definition of science than some people, 'cause [00:48:00] my favorite thing about science is that science often tells us what we don't know. Like, I think a lot of people go, "Well, there was science, now we know this thing, and that's the way that it is."
Right? But when I've had conversations in my life with people who... Actually, I got to have one the other day with someone who worked for NASA who was in one of my classes. NASA people keep showing up on all different places around me recently. but it was really interesting to have conversations with some of these scientists,
whether they're a medical scientist studying the brain or they are a NASA scientist s- studying the stars When you start getting into conversation and then there become a lot of, "Well, we don't know that. Well, we don't know that. We, we don't know that. We don't know where it comes from." What happens at the point where space and time start to bleed into each other?
What effect would that have? There's a great little [00:49:00] snippet, and it's been around on the internet forever, but it's somebody saying, um, "I asked my dad the other day, who's a physicist, that if you had a room full of mirrors and mirrors only reflect what's in front of them, what happens if the floor, walls, and ceiling were completely covered with mirrors and there's nothing else in the room?
What would it look like?" And he said, "My dad frowned for a minute, smiled, and immediately got on the internet to start trying to figure out where he could order really big mirrors." Right? So one of the things that I love about scientists is that they know that what we know is not as big as we often walk through life thinking it is, right?
I mean, imagine if that shrimp can see all of those, entirely different spectrums of light. Just because we can't see them doesn't mean they're not there, and those [00:50:00] lights or those waves affect us. So when you look at what's going on in our minds and our hearts and our souls, in addition to all of these energies that a lot of times science knows are there but we cannot see them, and you start to get patterns and waves interacting with each other in ways that we have not yet developed reliable ways to evaluate Metaphysics is the forefront of science.
Uh, there's so many people who go, "Oh, I don't get into that woo-woo stuff because I'm a scientist." Well, if you're really a scientist, you wanna hang out with people who are pushing the envelope in that area, because that is where the groundbreaking stuff is coming from. You guys have heard me say this a million times, you know, we would have no chemistry without alchemy.
We would not [00:51:00] have, a lot of parts of astronomy without our first investigations into astrology. You know, herbalism paving the way for modern medicine. all of these things had their first steps were magic. Magic is simply unexplained science in my mind.
And when we know that a shrink can see a lot more than we can, think about all of the things that we do not yet have a reliable way to perceive with our human senses on a daily basis. And also the filters of culture and experience and emotion that are on us at all times. our metaphysics is the edge.
It's experimentation into scientific unknown. And when I teach the Lilith classes, I say, [00:52:00] "Lilithian demonics is a philosophy and a science," because what we're challenging students to do is to shift their perspective and then experiment in those areas. And it's that experimentation that starts to alter the way that they see themselves and the way that they move energy around them
Jennifer Taylor (2): Yeah, absolutely.
And it's really interesting that so much of what science is, quote unquote, discovering now are things that the ancients have been saying and utilizing and drawing out and explaining in different terminology, for years and years and years. And then what seems to happen is you get to a certain point where science is able to scientifically prove something that essentially proves those ancients right.
You know, [00:53:00] it's like, yes, now we can demonstrate exactly what this is that they were doing, but they knew it to begin with, and they didn't need the scientific proof like the proof was that it worked. Yeah. They didn't need the proof in some sort of, separate kind of objective way. They had their proof because when they used it, things changed.
Yeah. And they could see the differences, and I think that they were probably much more in tune with all of these energies too, because they hadn't become so separate from so much of it because of industrialization and technology and those kinds of things that ... You know, to think that the, monks in these, temples in, uh, I think it's Tibet, that drew all of these elaborate mandalas, we now can look at and go, "That's the exact
image that these seed sounds that they were chanting makes, and that h- that energy has been put up all around on these walls. And they could have told you [00:54:00] then, "This is, this is that sound visually," and it's not until now that we can, you know, so-called prove it with science.
But I think it's so interesting that it's like it creates this whole circle where it starts there with what's considered metaphysics and all of that, and then it tends to sort of loop around to a more scientific method kinds of studies and proof and technology that finally gets, fine-tuned enough to pick up on it, and then it goes right back around to, oh, that's what they were doing.
Yeah. And yet it was put as like, oh, you know, these, you know, ancient societies, they had all these, silly beliefs and things because they didn't have science. Well, they were a lot more advanced in so many of these ways than we were because- Than we
Tava Baird: realized it. Yeah ...
Jennifer Taylor: you know, they just... They didn't need that that middle step to be able to believe it.
Tava Baird: Right. The documentation [00:55:00] and the repeatability are big cornerstones of science. Can we make this happen over and over again? Well, they were probably already making it happen over and over again. We don't have the writing that shows, the conditions in which they did it. You know, I, I always go back to Pythagoras, you know.
Oracle at Delphi said to his father, "Your wife will have a child that will change humanity." And then out comes Pythagoras, who goes, "Everything in the world is vibration." And everyone's like, "Okay." And now physics is going, "Guess what? Everything in the world is vibration," you know? And it's the music of the spheres.
Um, you know, to go back to my Montessori background, when Maria Montessori first started observing humans and the way that their brains worked, she wrote a philosophy and called it her science, but they didn't have MRIs to see what was firing. But she went ahead anyway and did, through experimentation, all sorts of work [00:56:00] on how young humans learn, and then developed materials for it, and they said she was a miracle worker.
And now we have the MRIs to say, "No, this part of the brain is actually firing when you do that with the hand." It's science now. That is how the brain works. But her miracles are today's science. She just had them 100 years before anybody else did.
Jennifer Taylor: You know, it's interesting. I was thinking about when, you were saying, science is, it's about repeatability, and I was thinking about what Samael said, I don't know how many episodes ago now, about, like, the same spell, the same words, the same, motions and intentions, but done by different people in different locations in touch with different energies, and then whether they're in the flow of the energy of [00:57:00] that space and in relationship with the beings of that space, whether, you know, how maybe tapped in they are to what they're doing.
All of those things will change the outcomes of- Mm-hmm ... the exact same thing. So when you think about so much of what we're expecting to be able to do scientifically as far as the repeatability is really totally not possible with a lot of these things because there are so many factors that are not being taken in.
You know, they take in as many factors as they can. temperatures and environments and things like that, but they're not taking in, the flow of energy through that place, the flow of energy through that person who's doing it, the flow of energy through whatever it is that they're studying, and all of those things are going to have an effect that are things that likely the ancients who knew these things and were [00:58:00] doing them understood.
You know, it's like if you apply all of these principles, it's somewhat repeatable, but understanding too that each time, if you're really working in concert with all of these energies, what we're considering a successful outcome or what the right outcome is for that is going to be different too. Yes. So there's, an added level of sophistication to that way of working that is just too many variables, I think, to be able to hone down into something that's, repeatable.
Tava Baird: Right, and the expectations of the person performing the experiment. How many times do we see- Somebody will come out and publish a study and say, "This is the science." But then when people start digging into the methods they used, or the fact that they, that scientist may have a particular point they [00:59:00] wanted to make, they wanted it to work so much that their own expectations may have corrupted the process, or if it didn't, is corrupting the delivery of the authentic results as much as they can be.
So, you know, we also have to look at our speaker and our sources and, we learn that with history. we all talk about history is written by the victors. Books are written by the people who have the luxury and time and resources to write the book and get it printed, you know? And so we have so many other experiences and voices and things that just aren't documented anywhere, which is wild when you think about how pervasive the internet and books are through our cultures.
like if you were to take a look at books coming out of Northern Europe in the 18th century, you're gonna notice that they tend to be written by people of a certain demographic because those were the people [01:00:00] who were wealthy enough and had gone to enough university and had the downtime to write, right?
and that they were supported by other people who had the resources to get these things done and distributed. And so this, we have this filter for everything that we're looking at. Um, I like the idea too of, you know, once we know the filter is there, and we know that a big part of the filter is, I am trying to predict, can we get ourselves in places?
And I think a lot of people interested in the metaphysical try to do this too. We, we go seeking places where we know our predictions are not going to be able to work the way they're supposed to be. My husband was actually talking about, he'd read, um, he'd actually talked, read about it, and then he'd actually talked to a couple people about those sensory deprivation tanks, right?
So have you ever, have you heard [01:01:00] about these?
Jennifer Taylor (2): This conversation continues next week, but before we go... I will leave you with a song from our episode about Currents. Enjoy and have a MAGICAL week FILLED with BROADLY positive expectations.
