What might we be seeing when we call something a fairy? Jennifer brings a student’s vivid encounter and a startling hummingbird visitation into the conversation, opening a much larger exploration with Samael about fae energy, messengers, gateways, exchange, and transformation. Together, Jennifer and Tava consider the difference between spirits of place, energetic expressions, and entities that appear at the edges of change—and why discernment, relationship, and knowing oneself matter when an invitation to exchange is offered.

Fae, Gateways, and Sacred Exchange
JenniferTaylor: [00:00:00] Well, good morning, Tava Baird
Tava Baird: Good morning, Jennifer Taylor. How are you?
JenniferTaylor: I am well, thanks. How are you?
Tava Baird: I'm good. The ... Sorry for the cackle, everybody. That was an ill-timed recording button. Ah. Ah. I'm just, I'm in a merry mood today because I get to be here with my lovely Jenn Tay, and the weather is finally cooling off, and market season is upon us.
I'm staring down the barrel of, I think it's five solid weekends of, spooky season, markets, classes, and ending with, a Samhain event at the cemetery out in, West Virginia on October 31st. So yeah- Oh,
JenniferTaylor: boy ...
Tava Baird: things are picking up steam.
JenniferTaylor: Yeah. Boy, and you had just ... You've just finished [00:01:00] your vacation from which I think you need a vacation.
Um-
Tava Baird: Yeah.
my kitchen is full of blessing oils brewing, and there are spirit dice on every surface.
JenniferTaylor: Teas and-
Tava Baird: How are you? ...
JenniferTaylor: prints and
Tava Baird: things everywhere.
JenniferTaylor: Teas.
Tava Baird: Yeah, I spent a whole day make, um, doing tea blends. I now have one called Sex Magick. Um- All
JenniferTaylor: right ...
Tava Baird: tea for your bad side.
JenniferTaylor: Not that there's anything bad about sex.
Tava Baird: No. I mean, bad. Like, not like bad, but like naughty.
JenniferTaylor:
Tava Baird: Like the sort of naughty like that you say right before you run your tongue over your teeth, that level of naughty.
JenniferTaylor: Gotcha. All right. That sounds, that's some good tea right there. Sorry.
Tava Baird: Oh, yeah. I'll have to, I'll put aside a bag for you. [00:02:00] It's got apples in it 'cause it's tempting. Um-
JenniferTaylor: Oh, gotcha
Tava Baird: So anyway. So hi, hi everybody out there in podcast world. That's what you've gotten from us so far.
Oh, boy. Um, yeah, I've been doing well having...
I spent a lot of time in discernment and bringing through, classes that are starting to, to take form for Omnivara, that I will probably release after, Mystic Fire, and things that I think are gonna be coming out in Mystic Fire that... So I'm excited. I feel like things are, things are starting to come into form.
Like, a lot of stuff that's been just out in the ether, and it's like I could feel it and I could sense it, and I knew it was there, but I couldn't figure out how I was meant to bring it through. It's like things are starting to kind of coalesce. so I'm, I'm really excited. So I've started taking some [00:03:00] concrete steps forward, so I'm really excited about that.
And I'm really excited to ask Samael some questions today. Um- All right. Yeah. I have had a question from a student, and then also a recent experience right within the same, like, few hours, um, having to do with the
Jennifer Taylor: fae.
Jennifer Taylor (2): Ooh. So I'm almost wondering if, I think maybe I should present my questions first and then sing,
So I have sort of a combination thing, but the overall umbrella would be fairies and fae.
So I'm just gonna read the text so that I can get the first question, properly.
And so I find this really fascinating. I had gotten this text from a student several days beforehand, and I just saw, like, you know how it gives a little bit of a summary in the text, or at least [00:04:00] on my phone it does? And I just saw a tiny little glimpse of the summary, and I knew that it was something that I was gonna need to spend time on, and there was something that kept me from opening it.
And normally I open it, read it, and then go, "All right, I need to set this aside for later." But for whatever reason, I knew I wasn't supposed to open it yet. And a couple days went by, which is very unlike me, if I know that it's there and remember to intentionally still not have opened it up. And then right after I had an experience with the fae, I was sitting there going,
Where is that text? I need to respond to him and look." And when I open it up, this was the text. so they said, "This morning, I saw what I believe was a fairy in our bedroom. It was like Tinkerbell except dark gray, and I only saw it for a half a second, and as it flew or darted into the walk-in [00:05:00] closet.
as it did so, it flew not as a straight line, but with a dip or kind of a Nike swoosh kind of thing. Then just now, I saw it again in the living room, same exact flying style and just as brief. So my question to start with is, can they get stuck in someone's house and need help getting outside? or do you think the, quote-unquote, 'fairy' or whatever it is I am seeing is where it wants to be?"
so that was the text I received. Then I also had an experience with, a hummingbird, and I don't know if I should tell that whole story right now or talk about it later.
Tava Baird: Why don't you go ahead and tell it, because I think it marries really well with what you just said.
JenniferTaylor: Okay.
Tava Baird: So then people will have sort of the two in their brains as you speak.
JenniferTaylor: Okay.
Tava Baird: That would be incredible, if you don't mind.
JenniferTaylor: Yeah. So
Tava Baird: I- Also 'cause Samael's really interested, so.
Jennifer Taylor (2): All right. [00:06:00] So I had a really interesting experience. I was preparing for, a session, and I was sitting in the window. I know you guys have heard me talk about that, and it's basically a little bar table up against the window.
And I sit at a bar stool, and we open the window, and We've taken the screen out, so it's as close to sitting outside as I can get. And it's up on the third story. So there are no plants around, there are no trees around that part.
Like, there's nothing that would confuse a bird as far as, "Oh, I think that's some kind of flower or something else." So I'm sitting there, and all of a sudden this hummingbird comes, and it, it lines up in front of me, probably 20 feet out, looks at me, and makes a beeline straight for my face, flies straight at me all the way in through the window and right in front of my face.
I mean, like, uh, centimeters from [00:07:00] touching my face, right in front, like, at my third eye. And it startled me. it was so close My eyes couldn't even focus on it. It was just a, a flapping and sounds and things. And so I just kinda sat up and went like this with my hands, with my hands out to either side so that-- 'Cause I was, I was instantly worried for the hummingbird, that it was gonna get further in the house and it was gonna get hurt.
And so I kind of sat up to make myself more like a, a wall. And it backed up, And then was outside the window, but still, like, looking straight at me. And so I leaned forward further so I was more kind of filling the windowsill space. And it kept, like, kind of coming towards my face and coming towards my face and backing up, and then it just stopped and kind of looked at me and then flew off to the right And I was like, "I don't know what just happened.
I don't know what this was about." But it was clear that it was [00:08:00] some kind of message. There was something going on because there is no reason for a bird to do that. And it was not confused 'cause it turned and looked straight at me from 20 feet away. Um, but it was right before I was going into a session with someone, and I didn't have time to sit there and process it.
And I was thinking, too, it was possible that it had something to do with the session that was coming and it was some kind of preparation there. and actually to link back to our last podcast, I had, through a number of discernment things felt that it was Mother Mary, not Mary Magdalene, who was speaking through Samael and leaving and having the message about, um...
It was like something like sing on singer or something like that. And so I was thinking, "Okay, maybe it has something to do with that." At the same time I had been sitting there and kind of discerning because I had also just had another experience where Isis had come back up for me and I [00:09:00] was watching this old, shamanic journeying course where Sandra Ingerman was saying that Isis is said to also be the same energy, the same being as Mother Mary, but with a different story.
And all of a sudden I was remembering all these things about when I first met Gabriel and Isis coming in and all the corn that was pouring down on me and I was thinking, "Okay, there's Corn Mother, there's Isis, there's Mother Mary, there's Tonantzin, there are all these sacred feminine, energies coming together.
And so I was actually sitting at the window thinking about all of those things and, wondering how much of them might be the same sort of energy, and then also thinking about Samael having said, you know, if they all work with the same kinds of energies or they work together, one may feel more like the other.
[00:10:00] and then I was thinking back to gosh, two years ago maybe, we were in a podcast and I was talking about connecting with Isis, and Samael had said to do this whole ritual with milk and, herbs and honey, and to scry the sky. And when I did, the message that I had gotten was that Isis had merged with the Great Mother, like she was part of the Great Mother energy, and she wanted me to refer to her and interact with her as the Great Mother and not as a more individualized form as Isis.
And so I was contemplating all that when the hummingbird came in. And the person that I was doing the session for, we also had been doing... a lot of working with, the sacred feminine and, a lot of those entities as well. So I was thinking that maybe it had something to do with that.
And then I also learned that in Mexico, hummingbirds are thought to be ancestors or [00:11:00] messengers of ancestors. But that didn't seem to resonate fully either. And so the next morning, I was sitting at the window again and discerning and, connecting and asking to connect with the hummingbird again and see what was going on, and really understand what was happening.
And with my eyes closed and my, inner vision, saw the hummingbird come up to my third eye, and I told it it could drink from my third eye, 'cause I had this sort of sense that it wanted to or needed to come in. And so its, like, beak and tongue came in and kind of looped around into my, right eye.
And the next thing you know, this tiny little being that I believe was a fairy had been riding it like you would ride a horse, got off and kind of slid [00:12:00] in and came into my right eye. And what it looked like for me was like I was looking into a hollow eye shaped space with a trapeze kind of bar across that didn't swing, but it was just like a bar across.
And it was sitting on the bar, like swinging its legs and sort of swinging around and stuff, and said that it had a lesson for me or a teaching or something for me to share. And I sat there and I was like, "All right. I'm, I'm not sure about this." And I asked for a few minutes to discern and speak to my guides and see what was going on.
And so it climbed back out and backed up and I did everything every different version of, discernment I know of and asking Michael, and everything I got was like, "Yes, it's okay as long as..." Oh, and I'd asked what it wanted in return for this lesson, and it said healing for the Earth.
Like for [00:13:00] me to, offer healing to the Earth. And I thought, "Okay. Well, that's totally something that I know I will follow through on and I know that I can offer." And everything that I f- I got, I felt like in the discernment was, this is okay but obviously I have to make sure that I'm 100% gonna follow through on my part of the deal. So I I went back and said, "Okay, let's do this." And
I said, "Okay, what's the lesson?" And it-- the word I got was taxidermy. And it was basically that like when you think about taxidermied animals, it's that like they retain some of the energy of that animal, and it's kind of stuck in that form, to a certain extent.
And it's-- so at first I was like, "So do you want me to do like releases for taxidermied animals?" Like, I was trying to figure out what was going on. And I think what it was actually getting to is like anything that you have that you're using that came from an animal is holding some of [00:14:00] that animal's residual energy , and you need to make sure that you have asked the animal for that and you're working in relationship with it, and you have permission to use it.
And that's not something I don't know already. I'd always ask before I get something. But I was shown I have a snakeskin that, I think someone had given me that I had not done that with, and that has been coming into use lately. And so I was like, "Oh, my gosh." And so I went in and I connected with the snake, and I apologized, and I asked permission, and I did all that.
And I went through like everything I could think of that was in the studio and connected with it. And almost everything was like, "Yeah, we know it was a gift, and you know it was a gift, and we went through this thing back then." But then, every now and then there was something that needed some sort of tidying up or something done .
And there was one little piece of bark that I'd brought back from Vermont, with permission from it, that was [00:15:00]letting me know it was time for it to go back into the earth and wanted to be buried at the north side of the, stone circle and would bring blessings. So I did that. And at the end of it, I thanked the being and, we were kind of done, and it changed from this tiny little cute sort of person to this large human-like being that to ME looked like Elrond from "The Lord of the Rings."
but I only saw him kind of peripherally. He was, just to my right, and just seemed very dark. but the overall feeling and sense and shape and everything felt to me like Elrond and then flew off of its own volition without needing the hummingbird with, big, dark wings.
Uh, oh, actually, before that, like, when he was standing there, I asked Michael to step forward further into me, and he shook his hand [00:16:00] and said, "Thank you," and he flew away. And so I was like, "Okay, well, this should be Okay. we're, we're still okay. and that was the end of that. and it was right after that that I thought, "Oh, I forgot I've got, have that, that text I need to open."
And then I open the text, and that's what it was. And I was just floored at the fact that here I had waited, and if I'd opened it several days before when I got it, I would've had no experience and nothing that had happened in that realm before, and then I just had this whole experience, so.
So there you go. You look-- I, I have to say, I'm getting more and more concerned looking at your face as you write.
Tava Baird: So I'm gonna, I'm gonna let you sing and see if he wants to add anything to this. But while you were talking, he was [00:17:00] responding in real time.
Jennifer Taylor: I had
Tava Baird: a feeling.
Jennifer Taylor: Of
Tava Baird: like-- And I, there, I literally already have two pages and he was talking so fast, and I was listening to you at the same time, that a lot of these are not in complete sentences.
They are just notes. Because, like, you would be like, "The hummingbird," and he'd be like, "Messenger." And I would just write, "Messenger." And then, but he would say it, you know, like, "Hummingbirds are often blah, blah, blah, blah, blah." And I was just taking notes because I was doing two things at once. There's a lot of really interesting stuff here.
Um, but would you mind singing so I can give him a chance to sort of Samael sum up, where perhaps he will say a couple more eloquent things before I try to go in through the two pages of crazy scattershot [00:18:00] notes that just came through?
JenniferTaylor: Yeah. And I, I have this feeling like- This is some
Tava Baird: wild
JenniferTaylor: shit. Sorry
I've like, I-- like I'm sitting in class, and they just came over the loudspeaker and said, "Jennifer Taylor, will you please come to the front office?" "The principal wants to speak with you."
Tava Baird: No, no. No, no. It's just he's differentiating between certain things going on and the definition of fae. And then he dives into what he considers a fae to be, and I think you're gonna dig all of this.
JenniferTaylor: Oh, good. I'm just... I c- I was looking
Tava Baird: at your- You're not in trouble ... face
JenniferTaylor: as you're writing, and I'm like, "I am so in trouble." He's gonna be
Tava Baird: like- Well, I w- No, no, no ... "How stupid are
JenniferTaylor: you?" I was try-
Tava Baird: I was focusing because luckily for me, I had heard some of this on a Marco- Great ... previously. which was good because I don't think I [00:19:00] would've been able to process everything you were saying and what he was giving me at the same time.
But I was able to listen to the story and go, "Okay, bird flying at face, blah," you know, like, and, and kind of- Right. Yeah, you're like, "Oh, yeah, that's the part." Oh, yeah ... like know where I was at the same time that he was talking. Um, but a lot of this is going to be sort of my paraphrasing of what he said because I couldn't write down everything he was saying at the same time that I was processing you.
So, um, but yeah, this is, this is getting really interesting. So will you, will you sing a little something?
JenniferTaylor: Yeah, absolutely. Does- Oh, good. And then we'll see- Does he have any suggestion on the focus? 'Cause I have to admit, I'm still, I'm kind of rattled, one, from having shared the story that I barely made myself share on Marco a few days ago.
And now I'm telling- It's a great story, though ... the whole world. I was like, I feel, I feel like maybe... I don't
Tava Baird: know. No, no, no. I feel like I'm kind of a mess. It's good, and I think this is [00:20:00] really interesting stuff, that we're gonna get to dive into. Um, Samael, do you have a request? He says, sing a song about gateways."
He requests- About gateways ... a song about gateways.
JenniferTaylor: All right. Well, that's gonna be fun. All right. A song about-
Tava Baird: Isn't it always? ...
JenniferTaylor: gateways. Yeah.
Tava Baird: Gateways. That's, that was his request. Gateways.
JenniferTaylor: All right. Well, I will honor that. Thank you, Samael.
Tava Baird: Thank you.
JenniferTaylor: [00:21:00] [00:22:00] [00:23:00] [00:24:00] [00:25:00] [00:26:00]
Tava Baird: Wow.
JenniferTaylor: Oh, oh my goodness Oh, I'm a little like, oh, a little dizzy. A little, like, lightheaded from... Oh, I don't
Tava Baird: know. That was a lot of- You can feel the energy coming off you in waves. Um- [00:27:00] Oh, boy ... if you're dizzy, what I'm about to share with you is not going to help. Maybe, maybe we need to, like, touch grass for a second or, like, chew on something 'cause...
Okay. Hmm. Disclaimer: often on the podcast when Samael is speaking, he is speaking in a very measured tone. I write down exactly what he says within, like, sometimes he'll go back and be like, "You wrote and," and that's or. You know, like he, like I-- there's like an editor looking over my shoulder all the time to make sure I have it.
This is not that. He was talking so quickly and with so many phrases that I was... This is not word for word. This is me writing the bullets as fast as I freaking can, and I'm sure he will cut in and tell me if I have wandered astray. [00:28:00]But we are not getting a lot of direct quotes in this simply because I was writing too quickly to make sure.
It's not like Book of Samael where, like, I made sure I had everything and checked it all with him exactly word for word. Okay. You're ready to get into fae.
JenniferTaylor: Let's do it.
Tava Baird: All right. So these first two pages came from before you were singing, and then he elaborated in a lot more detail while you were singing.
Okay. So the first thing that he said as you started to tell your stories was he asked the question, "What is your definition of fairy? Is it because it flew?" He's talking about the story that you told, the story about the text of this, and this little being that flew into the closet or Nike swooped into the closet.
I don't know. Can Nike sue us for saying [00:29:00] Nike? Nike n- no. We're focusing- Rich we're really advertising ... Nike the goddess. Yes. Nike- There you go ... it's Mystical Musings, it's Nike the goddess. Um, so I think Samael, he was actually being kind of casual and joking there as like, was this person describing it as a fairy because it flew, right?
And, and we think of, uh, you know, fairies as these little things that zip around, right? Um, well, we think about them that way here in America. They're not necessarily always that way in other places when we talk about the fae. So then as you were telling the story about the can it get stuck in the house, he was throwing out ideas of possibilities of what it could be and addressing the fact that people call lots of different things fairies.
So [00:30:00] he says that there are nature entities of place. So you did a story about flower fairies for your daughter, right? Which essentially the fairies in that story were nature entities of place, right? They had a you know, blue fairies, and they had to do with the environment. They were, sort of like beings tied to the trees, the flowers, the stones, the location, right?
So there are some people who use fairy to mean that I went out in the garden and there were all these cute little fairies. Then there are people who talk about entities that are gatekeepers or tenders of transition as fairies. So when you think about sort of our version of the Tooth Fairy, right? The Tooth Fairy-- So if you look at the history of the [00:31:00] story of the Tooth Fairy, and you go back in, like, England, originally the story, it wasn't a fairy, it was mice, if I'm correct.
It was mice who came and took the teeth and left coins, right? Coins and teeth, ha-ha. I'm suddenly- ... just realizing that, right? Um, and then, like if you look it up online, there was actually like a linguistic transition that came about where it was no longer mice, and it became these little fairies. But we often-- Like when people talk about fairies, oftentimes the defining trait that they will use is, well, they always wanna trade.
You know, like there's the whole, they say if you go into fairy, um, like make no deals and don't eat anything, right? Because the idea is, is that if they offer you food or water, like they're kind of putting some of fairy into you, [00:32:00]which is almost like trading for your, uh, consent.
And then people end up trapped in fairy and they come h- there's all these fairy tales about people coming home, and it's 400 years in the future, and they've been trapped in fairy because they went to a fairy feast. And so they essentially kind of gave their consent. "I ate your food, do with me what you will."
So you always hear in the older fairy tales, if you encounter a fae, make no deals and don't eat or drink anything while you're with them, because you are essentially entering into a bargain that you probably don't want to be making, right?
And if you think about the Tooth Fairy itself, what is the Tooth Fairy doing? Well, it's taking your baby teeth and giving you coins. Children really don't have a use for coins. Adults do So what's happening there is the fairy in that story is [00:33:00] facilitating the transition of childhood, the baby teeth, for coins, something you will need as an adult, right?
And, and the more baby teeth that the child loses, the less of a child they are and the more of an adult they become, right? They're, transitioning, they're morphing, they're shape-shifting, as it were, just very slowly, right? Uh, somebody said once, like, we always are like, "Oh, the Tooth Fairy," and they're like, "Think about it, though.
There's an entity somewhere collecting children's mouth bones." You know, like- ... when you think about it, it's li-- I think I actually wrote about that, I think, in one of the birdie books. There's a whole thing on the Tooth Fairy, right? So Samael says i- if you think about it, y- you're looking at an entity that's similar to, like, the ferryman in Hades, right?
You pay the ferryman your coins, and the ferryman takes you across the river, moving you from life to death, [00:34:00]right? There's a trade there. So he wants us to keep that type of entity in mind because he's gonna go back to it later. The idea that there is an energetic exchange, a price that is paid for something,
And it is an entity that's dealing with transition, such as a ferryman or the Tooth Fairy,
JenniferTaylor: right?
Tava Baird: And then he pointed out that a lot of people have interactions, where the line between bird and fairy is crossed. And so, like, we look at your hummingbird story, birds are messengers in just about every story,
Which is interesting because angels are often seen as messengers as well, right? So we're looking at something with wings, be it an angel, a fairy, a bird, delivering [00:35:00] information. And like you said in your story, "I was about to go into session, and I felt like it might be related to the session," and Samael just started chuckling.
Like, like, "Yes." Ya think? That's... Basically, the bird is l- was, like, bringing you a little bit of messenger and energy that you might not have known about on a conscious level, but something was being delivered there and making itself very seen so that you then went into the session with this energy that it delivered in the forefront of your mind, which is going to change the way, obviously, that the session went, and what happened in it.
So Samael was trying to sort of break down... There are people who see something and go, "Oh, a fairy," but they're really talking about an energetic expression or an entity of place Or there are people who [00:36:00] encounter entities who are actually gatekeepers, that are appearing at times of transition to make some sort of exchange, and they call that the fae.
And then also there are people who will sort of morph a delivery of energy, which I think your hummingbird became your fairy, right? That it was sort, sort of like a, in your daily life, here's the hummingbird delivering the energy, and then once you sort of crossed into your liminal space where you're doing the work, that energy packet continued as a fairy, right?
So you have those two that are looking different because you are in a different spiritual state when they were delivered, right? In one of them, you were like, "I'm trying to keep this from flying into my house. I'm worried about the bird." And the bird is going, "Hold on, I'm gonna drop this fairy off with you," essentially,
JenniferTaylor: right?
Tava Baird: And when you [00:37:00] get into this other state, you're going to be able to... It's gonna have form, right? That maybe wasn't coming. You, you weren't visually seeing it from where you were standing in your world at that moment. So, whew, that's page one. Now is where it gets interesting. So, so the, the person who texted you with their Nike Swoosh fairy Odds are they saw something small with wings and gray.
So Samael's going, "You could have an entity of place. You could literally have an energetic expression of the person's self. You could have an entity that is dealing with transition. or you could have a message being delivered." He did not seem [00:38:00] concerned that the fairy was gonna get stuck in the house, because we're talking about an energetic being that wanted itself to be seen,
Like, it's putting itself in a physical form, sort of like the hummingbird did. "Hey, I'm here," right? It attracted attention. But what Samael wants to examine much more closely is this gatekeeper transition idea. Okay, so here we go. So He said, and this, this part is a quote, "Fae entities are what most would consider 'wilder', more connected to emotion and nature."
And then he also later on used the word 'raw.' Okay. So we know that as humans, we like to take different [00:39:00]types of energetic entities and kind of put them in categories. We have entities that we call angels, and they tend to behave in a certain way because of the work that they do. And because of who we are as humans, we interpret certain things that they do in a particular way.
We have context, right? We have centuries of humans writing about angels, and we're aware of a lot of that. They're supposed to have wings. They hang out in churches. They're attracted to human women. Some of them fell, right? You know, we have, we have sort of our context of what we think. You know, they tend to show up and go, boom, you're carrying, a baby Jesus in your body.
You know, like they-- We have this idea of what an angel is
Samael said [00:40:00] that entities that we would call fae entities also are entities that perform certain functions and have certain characteristics that we as humans will tend to interpret a certain way based on the context of what we here in the Western world think of as acceptable and unacceptable, fairy, not fairy, magical, not magical, right?
So he said we will often perceive fae entities as wilder in behavior than we are, Think about like the Morrigan, right? Queen of the Fae. The unknowable, very changeable, morphing. Her emotions are often kinda off the hook, right? you won't hook up with me, fine, I'll turn myself into a cow and stampede all of your wealth off the edge of a cliff.[00:41:00]
You know, that I will wash your armor in the water covered in blood while singing, right? There's a lot of emotion going on there. Okay? So fae entities, he said, will often be perceived as wilder, more con- connected to emotion and nature, and the things that they do feel a little more raw. He said these are beings that are often shape-shifters and manifestors, so they deal well with a particular strain of energy or magic.
Now, if we go back to the trade idea, I found this interesting. He said they are known for trades because a trade is an attempt at balance, and they are entities of transition, so they make trades in an attempt [00:42:00] to keep balance both in you and in themselves.
So, and he's gonna go into this in more detail. He says, "A trade also involves you, the person who wants the trade, being involved in the process." So if we think about in a lot of faiths or religions, you go to church, you get down on your knees, and you go, "God, I really want this to happen. Can you please deliver this gift?
Thanks." But you're not really offering something up. You're not going... Well, unless you get desperate, then we start doing, "Hey, I'll do blah, blah, blah, blah, blah if you give me back blah, blah, blah." But we tend to call those things in our West- we tend to call those deals with the devil. Notice, right? Yeah. So you make a deal with the [00:43:00] devil, but nobody makes a deal with God in Christianity, really, although people attempt.
You know, "If you can just do X, I'll be really good. I'll stop sinning. I'll, I'll blah, blah, blah," right? But for the most part, it's this idea that God is good and will give gifts. And we tend to regard trades with suspicion. Make a deal with the devil, right? I did this, and now you'll do this."
And we see this, if you ever watch the show "Supernatural," like you see that all the time. The demons always want trades, right? You bury something at the crossroads that they want, and then they appear and say, "What do you want?" Right? So we have this idea of the deal being suspicious.
But what Samael says is that a deal is involving you in the process. You're not just asking for a gift. You are now part of the energetic [00:44:00] working. You're going to have to offer or sacrifice something to get what you want. Samael says from our standpoint, culturally, we tend to think of that as that's lesser, that's a lesser behavior than God is good and will provide.
But Samael says, though, it is actually, from the fae's point of view, a version of healing because in that moment where you are required to make a trade, you have to do some introspective work. You have to say, "What would I sacrifice?" And you learn from that self-searching, "What am I willing to give up?"
And conversely, what things are at the core of [00:45:00] myself that I will never give up? What would I not be willing to sacrifice? Samael says, "What you would give and what you won't is the fundamental groundwork of who you are." At the core, when you strip everything off, the performance stuff that we do to make society run, the people-pleasing, the-- all of the, the bags of stuff that we carry around.
If we take all that off, who you are at your core can be found through the question of, "What am I willing to sacrifice, and what am I not willing to sacrifice?" If a fae showed up in your room right now and said, and they often do in these stories, "Give [00:46:00] me your firstborn child," and what always happens in those stories?
The people who are not sure they're ever gonna have a firstborn child and don't know what it's like to have a child, and so they can't imagine how much they would love that child, go, "Sure. I want this really badly." And then they have the baby, and they're desperate to not give the baby away. Who they are fundamentally changed with the birth of that child, and that examination of what would I give now for comfort now versus in the future?
Who would I give up? What are the things that I cannot give up? Goes right down to the core of who you are. And Samael says, "You must understand the core of who you [00:47:00] are before any major shape-shifting can be done successfully." Because if you don't know who you are, then you don't know how to shift it to become something else.
So what we're actually looking at here in dealings with entities that Samael would refer to as the fae are energetic entities, and we're all energetic entities, right? Energetic entities that say, "I have power. I'm willing to trade with you and give you some of this power or give you your heart's desire."
But I want you involved in the process because that is gonna force you to go on a journey of figuring out what would you sacrifice and what would you not sacrifice, and why. And [00:48:00] from that, you will understand the essence of who you are right now, and that will make shape-shifting successful for you Now, a lot of people don't do that groundwork.
They just go, "Yeah, yeah, yeah, take it, take it, take it. I'll give you whatever you want." And the fae don't-- They're gonna be like, "This isn't gonna be successful for you," because you simply sacrificed in the moment. Samael says that a trade is also an important thing because it marks time in regards to transition.
This is the period when I had this thing, and this is who I am now that I have given it away. This was me before the trade, this is me after the trade, right? And what stayed constant [00:49:00] before and after? He says it also forces you to look at the difference between who you are and what you have. So many times we confuse what we have with who we are.
"Oh, I have this job, therefore that's who I am." "Oh, I live in this place, therefore that's who I am." "I drive this car, and so, you know-" My identity is the person with metal truck nuts hanging off the back of the pickup. Right? But that's not who you are. But if you confuse what you have with who you are, that's not a good and successful thing.
Are you okay? Do you need a break yet?
JenniferTaylor: Yeah, this is fascinating. This is great.
Tava Baird: I got another page and a half. Here we go. [00:50:00] Now, this is the stuff that came through while you were singing. "And so," he said, "traits of a fae entity." And he added the disclaimer, "Obviously, they are all unique individuals."
So some are going to show these things more than others. the Morrigan, who is very strong, you know, she's known as a queen of the fae, She might exhibit more wildness, more connection to nature, more shapeshifting qualities than other fae might, because obviously they all are their own energetic makeup, and who else they work with and their own histories are going to affect.
So consider these traits in varying degrees. But he said, "Traits of a fae. They are concerned with exchange as part of the process of gain and loss." So what you gain and what you lose [00:51:00] says who you are, and they see that as a magical, spiritual working, not just a, "Hey, you give me half of your pizza, and I'll give you half of mine."
It's not just to be difficult, or it's not to be tricky. They see it as an actual opportunity for both their own spiritual advancement and yours. Now, they may become more concerned with their own than yours, right? 'Cause they're seeing things from their own perspective. But they're just gonna ignore you if they don't, you know...
But anyway, we'll go on from this. Concern-- So they're concerned with the exchange as part of the process of gain and loss, and it is an actual magical working. They often are entities that work in multiple realms. They can often appear [00:52:00] competitive because they are hungry for information and knowledge, because information and knowledge, that's a very easy thing to exchange, and
trading knowledge is beneficial for both, right? He says their energy is often under stress because they are in a time, they are constantly sort of wheeling and dealing. They're transitioning all the time. That's their magic. It's a very sort of volatile, high energy magic. He says, because that energy is in motion or what we might consider a more stressed state, it may affect their emotional appearance.
So they may seem more touchy, more alert, more reactive because their [00:53:00] energy is operating in motion. It is in a higher state. So if we think about heating up molecules, right? When you heat something up, the molecules all start moving faster, right? This is kind of the state that an entity with fae traits has going on a lot of the time.
Things move, they shift, they morph, They may be a gateway for people, as opposed to we put that energy in the freezer and it cools down and it slows, And he'll talk about an example of the opposite of a fae state in a minute He says some fae may appear more stressed than others.
And so your friend who's seeing something zipping around that might seem where he's concerned, can it get stuck in the house? He may have been picking up on that high activity [00:54:00] and quick movement as a state of stress. Actually, what it is, is fast movement because it's a fast-moving morphing energy. Okay?
He says their focus is on bringing things into being or evolution as opposed to an entity that is more concerned with peace or settling. And he says spirits of place often are more concerned with peace or settling. So you go outside and you sit at the base of a tree, and you get in communion with the energy of an old oak tree.
That is a very settled energy. It is a slow energy. At least that's the way it feels to us, right? There's a spirit of place there. It's been [00:55:00] there for hundreds of years, and it may be there for hundreds more. The fae are not like that. They are going to be, "This is the season. Let's do this," because they're about evolution and manifestation.
He says the fae will appear highly attractive to humans because humans are entities that are drawn to possibility. And what are they concerned with? Manifestation and creation, right? The next thing. So us humans who are always interested in what's the next big thing, I wanna be entertained. What can I become, right?
So it makes sense that we are going [00:56:00] to find fae entities attractive And they may appear to us very sort of cosmetically attractive, right?
Think about all the fae. You do get fae creatures who are described as not very attractive, like if you go into Europe. Like, I don't think brownies are supposed to be particularly attractive, right? But a lot of the stories where you're looking at, if you think about it, nobody's hooking up with a fae blacksmith in the stories.
It's all fae kings and queens. Have you noticed that? Like, it's all fae kings and queens, and they're all, excuse my French, hot as shit, right? These are active magic users focused with manifestation. They have a big energy, so they come across as this sort of king and queen thing, and they will appear, because of that energy, [00:57:00] really attractive to us.
He also said, and I found this interesting, because those entities, when they make an exchange, so they are naturally vibrating high, naturally drawn to, transition and evolution and creativity. But when they make an exchange, they find that exchange grounding because they have to stop and think about, "What would I give up and what will I deliver?"
And the person they're dealing with is doing the same thing there. That dip into the self is grounding for them, which enables them to function in more balance. But that constant dipping into the self, they also may appear vain at times. "Hold on, let me be focused on myself for a few minutes." And we [00:58:00] go, "Oh, they're so vain because they're so pretty."
But what they're actually doing energetically is dipping into themselves and staying focused on themselves before turning outward to change again, right? He says the exchange of information motivates them for both their own and their associate's empowerment. So coming to you and telling you info and getting info back from you is very motivating for them because the more info you have, the more power you have.
The more power you have, the more energy you have to work with in this to be constantly evolving. If I had to think of, rock stars in this realm that are actually human but that I had to put in a fae category based on this, let's [00:59:00] go Madonna, right? There's a new evolution every six months, a shape-shifting, a change, a new form of things, a constant integration.
I happen to be wearing a Darkstar T-shirt today. David Bowie would be another one of those. He described himself as, "I always want to be more than human." And we saw him do, "I'm an alien. I'm... Now I'm singing in a suit. Now I'm doing this." There were people who knew David Bowie for 20 years, and people would say, "He described himself as gay, bisexual, and a closet heterosexual.
What do you think he was?" And they would go, "I have no idea." Right? And they knew him for 20 years. So you're looking at that state of evolution. But whereas we have rock stars that do it, these [01:00:00] entities are constantly like that. "Let's shape-shift. Let's move. Let's bring in the new energy." He says more power is necessary to generate change.
Power comes from more knowledge, and so they will talk a lot, and they're always seeking out more information. He said they love secrets, and they often will appear to us as somewhat gossipy. Right? Because they want info. They want info, right? He says, "But the exchange is actually a vehicle for self-examination and grounding in the self that enables them to do their evolutionary work."
He said, "At times, relationships with fae may appear to be wholly [01:01:00] transactional." What can you give me? I'll give you something. There has to be a trade. What will you sacrifice? Then I'll give you what you want. But that is all diving back into who are we at our core, and let's ground before we change again.
It's sort of that, you know, in dance... You would know, you're a dancer. You know when they tell you to twirl, and if you tell a little kid, "Twirl," they'll just spin around until they start giggling and fall over, But a dancer who has to execute a series of turns understands to take a point in the distance, and that every time they turn, their eyes quickly go to that point before they spin again, and it prevents them from falling on their butt.
So think about a trade or a moment of self-examination as that touchstone that a [01:02:00] fae uses when they're twirling, when they're raising power, when they're dancing, when they're morphing. They have that point of focus. He says relationships may appear to be wholly transactional. This is because the entity is really focused on evolution and on that trade so that they can keep their eye on the prize and not lose their balance.
He said, "The fae may love you, but they're also very good at loving themselves." And this goes back to the first thing that Samael said. If you enter into a deal with a fae and you do not know yourself, you simply go, "Yeah, yeah, yeah, take my firstborn child. I'll figure it out later," and you don't do the work to think about who you are and what you will sacrifice, you are going to get screwed up by this energy big time.
Uh-oh, now you've [01:03:00] had a baby and you don't know what to do, right? The deal was made, but you didn't do the work. He says, "So being in a relationship with a fae as an ongoing guide is overwhelming for someone with low self-worth or who does not lead an examined life," right? You'll get bowled over by the energy.
He says, "But if you are confident in your own divine form, you know what you would give and what you would never give. Interaction with a fae can lead to a supercharged opportunity for evolution and creativity." You just have to make sure you're dealing with them on [01:04:00] equal terms and that you understand that the deal is the deal and the deal is to be taken seriously because they are doing the work on their end and they are willing to make a deal.
You have to take it equally as seriously. But if you walk into the deal saying, "I am divine. I have self-worth. I know that there are certain things I would never give away that are at the core of myself, and there are other things that I am willing to trade," now you have the opportunity to tap in to a high, high, very active vibrational form that is constantly moving and can open huge doors, gatekeepers, transitions into a [01:05:00] different state of being.
You just have to make sure you're prepared. So to sum up, the little gray creature in the closet could have been Any sort of energy that has wings rolling around. But Because it was moving so fast and had such a high vibration, And it was making itself seen, that while we're not always gonna look at fairies as...
I'm trying to think of like w- a fa- like Tinkerbell. Like it, where it's, n-notice the frame of reference is the person who wrote you said it looked like Tinkerbell. That may have been their brain coming into an interaction with a guide who carries fae energy. [01:06:00] Energy that is often in an edge state, energy that morphs, energy that has the possibility to open huge doors, energy that shape-shifts and twirls.
But their brain, because Tinkerbell's the frame of reference that they have from their childhood, interpreted what they were seeing as a Tinkerbell, a gray Tinkerbell. But also think about the color gray. It is not black. It is not white. Samael often talks about gray and uses gray to represent himself, because g-gray is an edge state energy.
It is not dark. It is not light. It is where the two meet. So the fact that that fae or fairy was gray, you're probably looking at some sort of edge state [01:07:00] manifesting, transformational, actually fae energy.
Jennifer Taylor (2): We will continue our discussion next week, but I wanted to leave you with a song.
