Navigating the Currents
The Hunger of the Soul, Sacred Landscapes & Living in Flow
In This Episode
What if what we call luck is really our relationship with the unseen currents flowing through our lives? Beginning with a hauntingly beautiful transmission on the hunger of the soul, Jennifer Taylor and Tava Baird find themselves drawn into an unexpected exploration of sacred symbols, feathers, serpents, ancient goddesses, and the hidden language of the natural world. As mysterious visions, sigils, and synchronistic discoveries unfold in real time, Samael reveals a profound teaching: the Earth itself is alive with patterns waiting to be read. Trees, stones, rivers, landscapes, and even the places we call home carry the memory of energetic currents, offering guidance to those willing to slow down, observe, and listen.
From that foundation emerges one of the episode's most transformative ideas: we do not move through life in isolation, but within an energetic sea. Rather than viewing our struggles as punishment or "bad luck," Jenn and Tava explore how we might instead learn to recognize the currents we inhabit—and when it is time to step into different waters. Through conversations about sacred places, ancestral stones, intuition, environmental energy, and our relationship with the living world, they invite listeners to rediscover nature as both teacher and companion. Sometimes healing is not about fighting harder, but about learning to recognize the landscape beneath our feet and allowing its wisdom to guide us back into the current that carries us home.

S4Ep13 Navigating the Currents Part 1
Jennifer Taylor: [00:00:00] Good morning, Tava Baird.
BAIRD BAIRD: Good morning, Jennifer Taylor. How the heck are you?
Jennifer Taylor: I am fabulous. I cannot wait to podcast today. We have had a break
BAIRD BAIRD: I went on vacation. Guilty as charged for some-
Jennifer Taylor: Yay. Yes.
See, setting an example for people of taking time for yourself and focusing on-
BAIRD BAIRD: Yes ...
Jennifer Taylor: just filling yourself up, which is great. So we have a full Tava today. Maybe. A
BAIRD BAIRD: full Tava. Sounds like, like a gymnastics move. She has executed and stuck the landing on the full Tava. That's like my favorite- It's like something that happens on a pommel horse or something.
I don't know.
I just got back from teaching for a full weekend where Samael was super chatty, and I have a feeling he is going to continue to do so [00:01:00] today. Um, he seems to be on a roll. Before we launch into me begging Jenn to sing because I am woefully song depleted from my vacation, um,
So I have a little mystery here. Uh, the other day a book came in the mail, and it had-- it looks like it came right from a used book seller. There's no note. It looks like it has a gift receipt, but there's no name on the gift receipt or any indication of who the sender was.
The book is titled The Singing Creek Where the Willows Grow: The Mystical Nature Diary of Opal Whitely or Whitley, with a biography and afterword by Benjamin Hoff, author of The Tao of Pooh and The, uh, Te of Piglet. Looks like it's right up my alley, but if [00:02:00] you sent this, I don't know that you did.
Thank you. Would you please make yourself known to me so I can thank you in person? That would be really awesome. Um, I was joking earlier that perhaps Samael simply got ahold of, uh, figured out how to use AbeBooks or something and is, uh, running around out there with my credit card, but we'll see. Um, but yes, if this was you, uh, an- with an anonymous gift, thank you.
I appreciate it.
Jennifer Taylor: Yeah, it sounds like a great book.
BAIRD BAIRD: It looks really interesting, No idea.
but yeah, I'll have to dive in and see what it's about.
Jennifer Taylor: Yeah. Speaking of no idea, I have absolutely no inkling whatsoever of what's going to come through today. It's been... It feels like it's been forever since we've, uh, talked and been together, and I cannot wait to see what, uh, is gonna come through.
BAIRD BAIRD: Yes. [00:03:00] Um, Samael is already starting to be chatty in a very strange way. Um, would you mind singing so we can see what in the world he's already starting to talk about?
Jennifer Taylor: Sure.
BAIRD BAIRD: He spoke all through me all weekend, which is probably why I sound sort of hoarse, and spoke to a lot of people, and, was very present.
At one point early in the morning on, Sunday morning, I had gone over to the, healing center where we were holding the Lilith classes, and I was... We w- it was just myself and my friend Kathy, who I travel with, and, my friend Jennifer, yes, yet another Jennifer- who was hosting us, and we were the only three people in the building.
It was, like, 9:00 AM on a Sunday, and the Lilith students hadn't [00:04:00] arrived yet. And all of a sudden, Jennifer just stops and, like, looks around. And I'm like, "What?" And she goes, "Do you hear a man's voice?" And I'm like, "I always hear a man's voice."
Jennifer Taylor: You're like, "I'm not the one to ask."
BAIRD BAIRD: I'm like, "What, what, what did the voice sound like?"
'Cause we had gentlemen in the classes, so I thought maybe somebody was early and was outside. But no. And she's like, "N- n- no, there, there's a man in this building. There's a man's voice in this building." And I said, "Well, was it a very deep voice?" And she's like, "Yes." And I'm like, "I think you might be picking up on a particular angel."
Who's just talking an awful lot this weekend. He was, uh, he was in rare form.
Jennifer Taylor: How fun.
BAIRD BAIRD: Yeah.
Jennifer Taylor: Yeah, I'm thinking it's, uh... Since he is so chatty, and since he's already talking on something, does he have [00:05:00] any recommendations of who would be best for me to bring through for this to-
BAIRD BAIRD: Samael- ... communicate? ... what do you want today?
Oh
He did not give a name. He says, "Sing on the hunger of the soul You got me I don't know how you're supposed to do that
Jennifer Taylor: Sing on the hunger of the soul
It's interesting, when I first asked if, I don't even know if I'd said it out loud yet. Maybe I was thinking of it. I got this really strong sensation in my throat and just below, which I've been having when, I connect with Tonantzin,
And as soon as I asked myself, or I was sort of thinking of asking that question, I got that same sensation[00:06:00]
BAIRD BAIRD: Maybe that's who wants to come through. He also just said, I just got a, "You forgot to say please." I said please. It is not a demand.
Jennifer Taylor: Yes. I always know that I have complete free will and that he would honor any of that. But I, since I asked, I am more than happy for him to, uh, have provided that.
BAIRD BAIRD: Let me say that again then. Sing on the hunger of the soul, please. I did a bad job of bringing through the tonality.
Jennifer Taylor: I would be honored. All right. So the hunger of the soul
All right, here we go
BAIRD BAIRD: Let's see what happens[00:07:00] [00:08:00] [00:09:00] [00:10:00] [00:11:00] [00:12:00] [00:13:00][00:14:00] [00:15:00] [00:16:00] [00:17:00] [00:18:00] [00:19:00] [00:20:00]
Speaker 4: Ooh
Oh, boy
BAIRD BAIRD: Well, that was interesting
Speaker 4: Yeah.
BAIRD BAIRD: What the... I don't think we've ever heard anything like that, quite like[00:21:00]
Jennifer Taylor: that before I'm not sure I've ever made any of those sounds before. Or s- spoken those languages before. Some felt like-
BAIRD BAIRD: Yeah ...
Jennifer Taylor: other languages. That was, uh... I, I feel like that was Dunan scene. S- Anyway, I went to, I, I went to go and get the stones, and it was like, "No, I work with feathers." And I ended up getting the collection.
I didn't realize how many feathers I had, a collection of feathers, and I had... There was a male and a female turkey feather on either side, kind of on the front, and in the center was a collection of feathers. And behind me, I got the snake skin and laid it behind me, and then I had one black [00:22:00] and one white feather in my left hand, and then that
a handle that has all of these feathers,
And I did the whole thing with those feathers in my hands
BAIRD BAIRD: I think I'm about to freak you out a little bit. You can't see it because it's just under the level of the camera. I got about three pages of, of Samael talking, and then I just kept getting-- And it came through weird at first. I have a couple, like, halted drawings that are like, "That's not it.
That's not it." But then I drew it bigger, and the part- Oh, wow ... where you were speaking, I don't know if it was in tongues or if-- 'cause it, parts of it were in a whisper, or if you were speaking in just a particular language, or if it was just the flow. But I-- This, this kept trying to come through. Um, I'm doing a bad job of drawing it.
I am [00:23:00] clearly understanding that the diamond at the top of this symbol needs to be equal in shape. It's not supposed to be narrow. It's supposed to be that the cross that goes through it is an equal-armed cross. And I know we've-- you've had equal-armed crosses come through before. But what's interesting to me is that it almost looks like something that would go on an altar or something like that.
But look at the wings. Yeah. And I started drawing it different ways as you were doing that. But the thing that Samael kept saying is that there had to be five points on each wing. Five, five, five. So, like, if we go back a couple pages earlier, when it first started coming through at the beginning of him speaking, you can see me trying to get what it is and failing here.
Like, trying to get the right, everything right. But there's an [00:24:00] eye at the top, wings, an equal-armed cross set into a diamond, and then some sort of stand, almost like an altarpiece that you would put up. But as soon as you said feathers, I went, "I just drew feathers," as you were doing that.
Jennifer Taylor: That's really interesting.
And I, like, the five points on each of the f- the feathers, I had essentially five feather points. I had three laying on the ground and one in each hand.
BAIRD BAIRD: Which I couldn't see because-
Jennifer Taylor: Yeah, you can't see at all- ... I can't see what's laying flat back there ... what's on the ground.
BAIRD BAIRD: No. And I almost feel like the
Jennifer Taylor: snakeskin laid straight behind me feels like the foundation.
BAIRD BAIRD: There is a, and when you mentioned this before, listeners, before we got on the podcast today, you [00:25:00] mentioned at one point in our conversation when you were talking about Our Lady, and what is the name of the entity that you were just saying? Can you say her name again?
Jennifer Taylor: Uh, Tonantzin. I think- Yes
I'm pronouncing that correctly.
BAIRD BAIRD: And you mentioned something about a snake-skirted-
Jennifer Taylor: Yes,
BAIRD BAIRD: it w- ... goddess or a snake-skirted entity.
Jennifer Taylor: Yes, and I, I don't know how to pronounce it. I wrote, uh, She of the Serpent Skirt.
it's
C-O-A-T-L-I-C-U-E, She of the Serpent Skirt.
BAIRD BAIRD: So two things. Number one, back when I was first learning about paganism and witchcraft, I would often draw [00:26:00] myself, I thought it was myself, I'm not sure who it was, standing with their hands over their head with a dress or a skirt on, and there was always a snake on the skirt coiling up around the body.
Second, there is a, I wanna say it might be Mesopotamian. There is a very famous ancient statue that shows a goddess with a snake in each hand, and she's wearing a dress or a skirt, and there's a snake coiled up the skirt.
There's an actual sculpture that they have. I remember the first time that I saw it being like, "Oh my God, there's that snake on the skirt that I had been drawing all those years when I was about [00:27:00] 14, 15, 16," then I saw it in an archeology textbook. And it's always stuck with me, but I, I haven't really dove into who that entity is.
But as soon as you mentioned the snake-skirted thing today, I went, "Oh my God." Um, let me see if I can find
Snake skirted
So I see snake-skirted goddess refers to C-O-A-T-L-I-C-U-E, one of the most prominent and fearsome deities In Aztec mythology, her name literally translates to serpent skirt. See, I had never heard of her before today, [00:28:00] but there is... Let me see if it's Mediterranean or
Minoan Crete. That's what I am thinking of the C, Crete. Minoan palaces were massive building complexes built on Crete during the Bronze Age Two Minoan snake goddess figurines were excavated in 1903 on the Greek island of Crete There she's holding snakes, but I swear I've seen a version or maybe Had a vision of it
There must be another Minoan figure where the snake is going around her skirt
Jennifer Taylor: That's really interesting. Coatlicue, that's how I just, I looked up
BAIRD BAIRD: how to say it
Jennifer Taylor: Coatlicue, is that how you say it? Coatlicue.
BAIRD BAIRD: So look up, I'm just curious to see if you get anything off this picture. If you look up Minoan, [00:29:00] M-I-N-O-A-N snake goddess figurines
It's interestingin a lot of,the onesI'm finding, she's holding the snakes out to either side, and she's wearing really a very kind of proper sort of dress that covers, like, everything except her breasts are exposed
Jennifer Taylor: There's one that shows snakes wrapped around her arms and snakes... It looks like a snake that's going down one side onto her skirt and then up the other side, it's also framing bare breasts.
BAIRD BAIRD: Interesting.
Jennifer Taylor: Yeah,There are definitely, uh, a lot of snake things Yeah I think it's fascinating that was like a [00:30:00]snake going all around the skirt and that's what you had, seen and been drawing and-
BAIRD BAIRD: I drew it over and over and over again when I was a teenager.
But I'd always wanted to make one, so like make a wraparound skirt that had a snake painted that would coil around the body
Jennifer Taylor: That's really cool.
BAIRD BAIRD: Do you wanna hear the stuff that came out of Samael while you were doing that?
Jennifer Taylor: Oh, for sure. '
BAIRD BAIRD: Cause there's a little bit at the end of a snake tie-in, but not in the way, not from that goddess. So I'm wondering if we're circumnavigating something to do with the snake here. So at the very beginning, there was me attempting to doodle that symbol And then Samael said, "An invocation for the body."
Then he didn't give me the invocation. He [00:31:00] switched topics and said, "They give the fruit and gain the tending of the hands." No idea what that means. All right, here we go. "There comes a tide wherein one can no longer feast on the body. When the eights of the hips," like the number eight, "When the eights of the hips in the morning must be stretched, where one remembers," and then this is in quotes, "the garden."
So I think he's talking about the Garden of Eden. "Where one remembers 'the garden's' original purpose was not as a tamed place, but as a meeting of the moving and rooted, so that the moving might serve the rooted in their evolution. [00:32:00] Not to dominate, but to create symbiosis. A means for the seeds to travel and the vines to grow together beneath the watchful eye of those who had the mind and hands to create structure."
So he's talking about, I think, plants and humans being put together in a place so that humans who could move and plants that really can't, the humans would further the evolution of plants by being there to serve and support them. And I think the equal exchange of energy is what he started with. "They give the fruit, and they gain the tending of the hands", and the they is the plant life in the [00:33:00] garden, right?
So he's talking about the original purpose of perhaps the Garden of Eden as a place where plants and humans would coexist and trade energies. Then he continues, "A union of plant and human with contributed nourishment from the life and death of other beings." So when an animal dies, it- its body fertilizes the earth.
And not to be disgusting, but when an animal eats, something comes out the other end that's also great fertilizer. So I'm guessing that's what this is.
Jennifer Taylor: where things- It sounds almost like meat. I guess the way I had interpreted it [00:34:00] as, like occasionally eating meat
BAIRD BAIRD: perhaps "union of plant and human with contributed nourishment from the life and death of other beings."
That might be it. And I, I don't know. But then he says, "and then the purpose was lost as humans pursued the perceived delights of absolute control without balance." And that made the garden become something other than what it was intended. And we see that with Lilith, the pursuance of control as opposed to balance.
And there are a lot of gardens out there where these are the only right plants that are allowed in here and they're so rigid and they're so tended that there is the joy I think he's saying comes from look at how I have [00:35:00] controlled nature rather than look at how I have tended it and it is tending to me.
It gets even stranger. Here we go. "Remember how your body was designed to follow the cycles and currents of your environment. We have spoken often on the energetic impact of the unseen, how the unembodied and disembodied affect you, and how working with another, whether they have a body or not, changes one's energy.
How, quote unquote, 'aspects' are often the blended energy of companions. But they are not the only things to consider. This life of yours takes place in an [00:36:00] energetic sea, and most embodied feel themselves at the mercy of a thing they have termed luck. Luck is essentially a term for stepping in and out
of currents without conscious knowledge of doing so. Both of you, singer and Umshallah, hear the people in your community. "My luck is bad," the people cry, and they fight it, fight it, fight it. While yes, unethical entities do exist, may attach and drain you out of malice, we must also look at the current where the body is swimming.
Let us imagine we are a fisherman in a small boat. [00:37:00] The fisherman knows well the currents near their home, when the tides rise and fall, which places might drag you to sea, and which are more peaceful, cold and warm waters. When a fisherman finds himself and his vessel in a current that is of no benefit, he does not stay and fight that current.
He withdraws from it as quickly as possible How well can you navigate the energetic currents of your own life, the places that threaten to drown you? How many maps can you make of how the wind navigates your shelter and where the shade prevents your food from growing? How many of your struggles [00:38:00] stem from not understanding the patch of earth where you stand?
Start there. Release curiosity into the world. Set aside the idea of punishment. It is how you row your vessel that matters. And then he had me draw that image with the wings, and he said, "What falls in the center, Umshallah?" And then he often has me draw, like, this spiral as he's coming through, and this time he had me draw it, but the pathway was...
Sorry, camera's over here. The pathway was very crooked and uneven, which is unusual. And he said, "The pattern in the tree, the [00:39:00] pattern in the slate, holy roots and holy stones as a place for the resting of a holy book, a blessing for the body to come from Helel."
I don't know what all of that part after the drawing of the image is. I think it may have more to do with our snake goddess and what you were doing than with the previous message. But I also find it interesting that Helel is the name he has given us for the angel that the Romans call Lucifer. And how is he often portrayed?
As the snake in the Garden
So we're on some sort of circular path here [00:40:00] about the garden and the snake, but it's tied somehow to this goddess energy you are bringing through from an Aztec goddess
And I don't know exactly what it is
Jennifer Taylor: Yeah, this is really fascinating. Before I lose this thread of what I was thinking, the... Where he was talking at the end about the, almost like inscriptions in the stone and in ... There were a couple thing- what was it? Will you read that little part again about the- Yeah ... things that are
BAIRD BAIRD: He'd had me draw that wavy line which looks very much like tree rings.
The pattern in the tree, [00:41:00] the pattern in the slate. Holy roots, which is something he's already talked to me about, right? Holy roots and holy stones as a place for the resting of the holy book. Now you work with holy stones. He's given me an energetic system called the holy roots. So I'm wondering if this has a link there.
Holy roots and holy stones as a place for the resting of the holy book. Blessing for the body to come from Heliel. But before that, the pattern in the tree, the pattern in the slate
Jennifer Taylor: It made me wonder, I know we had talked a few weeks ago about inscription and, how Eliel [00:42:00]works through inscription, and the idea of that, like, things written on something can bring through energies and in this sigil that we were working with, um, from Michael, there were these concentric circles, and he was talking about how when drawing those, that the energy comes through that inscription.
So basically, on a piece of paper, the ... You can draw something that will bring through, bring energies through and actually, like, act as almost like a portal there. When I was hearing that about the trees and the slate, it made me think that it's like by looking into and paying attention to these things that are in our natural world, that we can draw guidance and information and things through it.
And I think what really got me was the slate [00:43:00] because I just... Last week, The Simple Life and got to meet Helen, and it was amazing, and we absolutely loved the store and found a number of things there-
Speaker 5: Oh ...
Jennifer Taylor: that we were really drawn to, and one of them, it was like a slab of, muscovite that I'd never even seen, but the energy off of it was so intense that I was like, "I am supposed to have and work with this."
And I ended up in a session It was, like, the day after getting it, laying it in front of, Crone, and during the session, I was shown to turn it. And I was looking, it w- looked almost like looking across, like, a glassy frozen lake to her, and then I was looking at the reflections in it.
And when I first saw that piece, and I felt all the energy off of it, I felt like it was meant to be used for scrying in some way, and I was supposed to be looking into it. [00:44:00] And so I don't know if this has anything to do with what he was just saying, but it seems like There might be something to the idea of scrying in our physical, natural surroundings , looking into the tree, looking into the stone, looking into these things and knowing that there are living energies that can come through and guide us, and that there are things that we can see in it I
BAIRD BAIRD: think you must be on the right path, because I am getting so, I mean, like, dizzy with, with the energy, so much so that I'm like
I started doing your name three things I can touch, name it, and actually in this little box under my microphone are my stones from Scotland, and I just took them out and I have them in my hands. I'm trying to use them to ground. Um-
Jennifer Taylor: Yeah, I feel it too ... you- The, uh, [00:45:00] there's like this intense, moving, swirling energy
BAIRD BAIRD: Well, and, and the, some of the stones that you use, um, and I'm sorry, it's because I'm dizzy with energy right now.
When you went on that retreat last year and you brought stones back from that creek-
Jennifer Taylor: Yes
BAIRD BAIRD: We talked a lot about them holding the energy of place, right?
Jennifer Taylor: Yeah.
BAIRD BAIRD: So when we look at the patterns in stones and the patterns in trees, they retain the energy of the place that they are. The markings in them are visible markings of the energetic currents of that place.
When the stones rose and fell, how they set, how they were formed. And trees do [00:46:00] the same way. Tree rings are recordings of drought and moisture and time, right? We're seeing... And so Samael's talking about, you know, just like a fisherman knows all the currents around their home so that they don't go out and just say, "I hope I get lucky and get fish today."
They try to navigate to the places where they know there isn't danger, and they're more likely to find what they're looking for. But I think he's saying that we don't look at the physical representation of the energetic currents where we practice our magic enough. And if we did, if we learned the wind pattern, like a lot of us are in tune to, we look at moon phases, right?
But the patterns of [00:47:00] heat and cold, and when the insects come out, and drought, and when fire moves through, and all of these things, that we might better be able to navigate what's the energies that are around us. That it's not just, do I have an... You know, that we have to take that into consideration along with the idea of what energy might still be attached to me, what things from my personal experience do I need to let go, who am I spending my time with, either someone who's in a body or someone who isn't, and how their energy blends with mine.
But we also have to learn to n- um, our environment, the natural energetic currents of the environment that we are in so that we don't get swept out to sea. [00:48:00] But that we don't do that, and so we, we think everything is luck
When it might just be movement
This, this is really hitting me because I had someone in my class this weekend who, as soon as class was over, took my card, and, within, a very short time, I got a message that through my website someone had bought a consult session for me to come look at their house. The problem was that this person lives three and a half hours away from me, and I never thought that somebody who lived three and a half hours away from me would do one of those, because I do everything locally.
So I had to reach out to them and say, "You know, I'm not going to be up that way until at least next summer, and I don't feel right holding onto your funds." and they were like, "I just want you to get, to look at my house." And I said, "Well, I'm gonna refund you, but let's also [00:49:00] talk about what is going on in your house."
And they sent me this enormous list of just, like, basically over the last five or six years, it's been one calamity after another, after another. Things from house fires to, illnesses of the body. Like just looking at it and going, "Oh my God, I'm exhausted just reading this list." And as I, I wrote back and I was like, "I'm not convinced this is the house, uh, because there's so much on here.
But let's start there. Tell me about what you know about your house, and how long have you been in it, and that sort of thing." But it's interesting to expand beyond, I think there's something in my house to do you understand the energies that [00:50:00] flow through the earth from before your house was there? And you were just talking about how, you know, Our, Our Lady of Guadalupe, like they built this church, but it was on top of a much older site where a temple had been torn down.
And so I'm wondering if we're starting to get a pull into revisiting the things that you've discovered about the energies of place, and a reminder or a lesson for me that I need to start thinking beyond the four walls or the controlled environment that a human built, and looking at what was the original purpose of this land.
And are we living in symbiosis or are we living in opposition to the energies here?
Jennifer Taylor: Yeah, I think there's a [00:51:00] lot to that. And it's interesting because I've been thinking about an individual that, I'm close to that has had, again, just a string of what would be considered like the worst luck ever.
You know, losing a job, not being able to get another job for months despite being incredibly qualified and having an incredible, background in that field. a gazillion parking tickets from like the same places that they've been parking for years just right out in front of their own house, um, to, things breaking in the vehicle and things breaking in the house and having to be replaced, and then their physical
body now breaking down.
And I was thinking you know, is there a, um, unethical practitioner or other influence. , but a lot of the things d- didn't fit. It didn't fit, like because there's- Yeah ... plenty of motivation still in the house. Yeah. There's plenty of a sense of like, "I'm doing everything I can.
I'm fighting." But there is a lot of fighting this. I- it's just like I'm trying, doing the best I can. I'm, I'm, I'm kind of fighting- Yes ... my way through everything and trying to get a sense of- [00:52:00] What, like, uh, 'cause I kept thinking maybe we need to consult with Samael, like, is there something else going on?
Like, what might be going on? And I'd also been just yesterday listening music that Helen had playing in the Simple Life in Frederick that we had Shazamed because it, it was so good, and it was called... I think the artist is actually called Open to Abundance, and it's all of this really good music that is all of the words are really about being open to abundance and, you know, changing your mindset and shifting your mindset into a mindset of things naturally come to me, and I am, I, like, I'm worthy of, of things, of releasing the fear and all that kind of stuff.
And I was thinking about it and revisiting the idea of, how much of what we experience is a reflection of our thoughts. what you're thinking and what you're focusing on and what you're expecting is [00:53:00] what shows up in your environment, and so you need to really carefully choose your thoughts and your words and focus because it creates.
And I'm wondering, I feel like there's a connection there, too, of not just the natural, physical world, but what kind of currents are we in emotionally and energetically , in our thought processes and in our feelings '
BAIRD BAIRD: Cause if you think about it, like when I'm painting or writing, I describe it as I'm in the flow, right?
Yeah. You found the right current and it is carrying you, and you're just putting the paint on paper or putting the words down. When Michael or whomever is singing through you at that time, you are in that flow. You are in that current. You step into it. When I say, "All right, you know, we're gonna do the four mirrors ritual.
I'm open up, Samael, flow [00:54:00] through," he always does. Always. You know, and every single time I'm nervous that maybe this time he isn't gonna show up, and he is always... He is constant, right? And I think you're exactly right. We have... That's a different type of current that we can step in or out of, and if we're trapped in one current and fighting it...
Like this, this woman, when she sent me the list of everything that had happened to her, I was like, "Oh my God, you poor thing." And she wrote, "Am I a bad person? Is this karma coming to get me?" And I said, "First off, I don't think you..." She was like, "Am I lazy?" But she's working four jobs, you know? And I'm like- Oh my
Jennifer Taylor: gracious
BAIRD BAIRD: I said, "You know, we all worry about being lazy. I'm trying to think of the last time I met an actually truly lazy person." Usually the people who go, "I'm worried about being lazy" are the hardest working people we know. Like, I can't think the, of anybody I know who is just a [00:55:00] genuinely, "Yeah, I'm just gonna lay on the sofa and watch cartoons all day.
Screw everything." I... And if they are like that, it's because they have a medical condition or they don't have a choice. They're not lazy. It's not a choice. They're depleted, right? Either, either psychically or physically. I can't think of a genuinely lazy person, um, that I know. And so I'm like, why are we all terrified of being that?
I mean, it was... The idea was put in there at some point, probably due to that it's America, pull yourself up by your bootstraps even if no one has given you bootstraps, um, mentality, right? We have that frontier, uh, Puritan mentality. But yeah, there's lots of other types of energetic flow And if we are sitting in the current going, "I can fight this, I can fight this," [00:56:00] maybe what we actually just need is to step out of the current, to fight just long enough that we can get to the edge of it and go, "Woo, that, is not something bad that I have done.
That is simply a current that does not currently jive with my energy in any way, and I am being dashed against the stones and broken down. And it's telling me to release, not fight beyond exhaustion to stay in a place where I am not supposed to be." And that the more that we connect with and spend time with the currents around us, the better we're aver- able to navigate where the dangers might be, and where the safe, warm waters are that will carry [00:57:00] us home.
Totally side note, can I say, uh, my head was swimming, and I thought I was gonna have to, like, go take a break, and I started getting nervous about, you know, my left side going haywire again. And Samael said, "Open the box and pick up the stones of your home." And I literally keep these stones in this box.
I'm using it to keep my microphone up high because, yeah, I'm a tech genius. And I opened it up and pulled out these stones. I have one from each of the places that I visited in Scotland where my ancestors used to live, and I'm just sitting here holding them in my hands. I don't usually do... Like, you do tons of stone work and, and magical workings with stones, and I don't.
And I feel so much better right now, just so grounded. It's-
Jennifer Taylor: Well, and it [00:58:00] does seem to be related in a way of tapping into the energies of the earth and energies, you know, like those stones are carrying with them the energies of the ancestors and the energies of all the things that happened in those places that-
BAIRD BAIRD: Yeah
Jennifer Taylor: might, you know, be additionally, you know, connecting you back to this very ancient sense of home.
BAIRD BAIRD: Yeah. I have a stone from Hermitage Castle, and I have a stone From Buchlu, and I have stones from Skye. Um, all these places that I know Clan Stewart and Clan Scott and Clan McDonald were on for a very, very long time.
And, you know, I brought them home and I put them somewhere safe, and I didn't really use them. And this weekend, Samael had me give [00:59:00] away half my bone kit and told me to replace them with these. And so these are going to be used now, and they'll be part of daily practice. Um, which reminds me, I have a stone for you.
Jennifer Taylor: Oh, really?
BAIRD BAIRD: It's very strange, and I am so curious to see. If you don't vibe with it, that's fine. Some years ago, I purchased this, and it is a stone with a fertility goddess carved into it from India And it has been kicking around my house for the longest time, and it's beautiful. Mm. And I started bringing it with me to all my markets thinking, "This doesn't...
I don't [01:00:00] feel like this is for me, though. I just feel like I'm its custodian. I'll put it out and see if somebody is attracted to it." Nobody ever picks it up. The other day I was looking at it and I was like, "Who do I know who works with goddesses and stones? Come on, Tava." "Who do you think this is supposed to go visit?"
So the next time we get together in person, I will bring her.
Jennifer Taylor: Well, I can't wait to,
BAIRD BAIRD: uh- See what energy
Jennifer Taylor: you
BAIRD BAIRD: get off of her.
Jennifer Taylor: Yeah, I can't wait to, to meet it. I can't help but think that all of this is related. And when I think about it, you know, the currents and all of that, you- the things that help us, I think, to step out of those currents and reconnect with a deeper current is nature.
You know, it's connecting with our guides, and nature is one of, you know, the best ways of being able to [01:01:00] do it. We can see it, we can touch it, we can, smell it, we can feel, you know, We can hear it. And, looking into these things, the stones and the trees and, you know, connecting with all of that- is kind of an antidote to getting swept away in all of these other currents.
And maybe by really connecting with what's happening in the land and connecting with the currents where you are, not only can you tell if something, if you're living out of balance with it and you're not living in harmony with it, but you can also get a sense of what other things in your life are out of balance and not in harmony, and might be a, a way of stepping out of the currents or getting a sense of perspective on, what other types of currents you're in.
Speaker 3: We will continue our discussion next week, but I [01:02:00] wanted to leave you with a song. This one seems particularly fitting as it is sung with the consciousness of the waters of the sacred River Ohuna in Vermont and the spirits of place there as well,
if it really resonates with you it is on my Bandcamp, Amnivara and it is entitled "Sacred Waters, Singing Stones." So enjoy, and may you find the currents that benefit you and remain in the flow of blessings. Until next time
